Here's where I jump in and echo Wayne's sentiments.
I'm sorry you had to suffer such an experience and hope you don't have
to go through such a thing again.

Your credibility is unparalleled with those that know and respect you.
More's the pity for those in that have neither.

DK, you are nothing if not a negative force in this group. I have yet to
read anything you've posted that was truly positive about anything or
anyone. You and Sheldon should make good companions.

I have no doubt it happened. I just think her comments on what she was doing
and what she was wearing are tacky as hell, and I loathe Greg and Michael.

Ferdinand the Frail or Charles the Chaste or Alfonso the
Oblivious or Philip the Foul? I couldn't find Blinky the
Blameful.

ObFood:
Seafood Paella

INGREDIENTS:

½ lb. shrimp, peeled, 16/20 ct.; reserve shells for broth

1/8 tsp. saffron

¼ cup EVOO

¼ lb. scallops 20/30 ct.

1 medium onion, chopped fine

8 garlic cloves, crushed

1 tomato, peeled and chopped fine

1½ cups rice, Basmati

½ lb. mussels

½ clams (1/2 lb.), scrubbed

1 lemon, wedged as garnish

Kosher Salt, to taste

METHOD:

In a medium saucepan, boil 3 cups of water, salted. When water
comes to a roiling boil, add all the shrimp shells; reduce heat
to simmer and cover for about 10 min. Strain the broth,
discarding shells, and set aside. Crush saffron threads and add
to broth. In a large skillet (or, should you have one, a
14-inch paella pan), heat oil to high; watch for light wisps of
smoke to lift from oil. Pat shrimp and scallops dry to reduce
oil-spatter. Sauté shrimp and scallops, about 2 min.; transfer
to a plate and set aside. Remove most of oil from the pan;
leave approx 1 Tbs. Turn the heat to medium and sauté the onion
and garlic until translucent; about 5 min. Add in the tomato
and season with salt. Sauté mixture until it has darkened and
is a thick purée; approximately 10 min. Add shell broth
tomato-onion sofrito to simmer; when lightly bubbling, add rice
to the pan. Finish sautéing mixture until the rice gains some
color, about 1 min. Increase heat to medium-high and pour in 2½
cups of broth (retain approx ½ cup for later use). Shake the
pan to evenly distribute the rice in the pan. As the liquid
comes to a boil, arrange the mussels and clams in the pan,
submerging them as much as possible below the level of the
liquid. From this point on, do not stir the rice. Cook the
paella on medium-high, rotating and moving the pan over one or
two burners to distribute the heat. When the rice begins to
appear above the liquid, after 8 to 10 min., reduce the heat to
medium low. Continue to simmer until the liquid has been
absorbed; approximately 10 min. When finished, sprinkle a bit
of hot broth onto the pan. Add shrimp and scallops to dish.
Serve with Spanish red (I much prefer Almira's Los Dos Old
Vine; very fruity but not sweet!). Feeds five handsomely.

Had that awhile back. 89 year old heart attack victim. Not the best
situation. I worked on her while others (husband included) cleaned her up.

Totally different to a babies nappy.

Nope, not at all. Some women can't even cope with it!!

My SO can't cope with vomit. I don't have a problem with it.

My kids used to spew all over me when they were crook (I was holding
them to comfort them at the time), their mother (also a spewaphobic)
used to be in a heap on the floor dry-heaving her guts up. I thought it
was funny, till I had to change a shitty nappy :-)

I know full well that things would have gone quite differently if my
husband had been there instead of me.

But as it was, I ran into the girl's mom a few minutes later.
Complimented her on her garb (green and purple brocade) and recounted
the whole "amusing anecdote".

The balance of the conversation conducted between two middle-aged women
standing side by side, arms folded, staring off into the trees:

"Tsss...."

"Mmm."

"Uh HUH."

"Yeah."

"Right. Right, then.... Lesson on Tuesday at 9?"

"As far as I know and weather permitting. Have J call E and confirm."

"Will do. Now... Which way did he go?"

No large cash transfers via a bail bondsman involved, no need to locate
a neurosurgeon capable of re-attaching a head that had been unscrewed
like the lid to a pickle jar.

Dunno know if he counted himself as lucky, though.

Can't remember if I posted this link here already, maybe it was just in
abf?

All items from K-Mart, even the clothes dryer that's not shown.

The blue cast iron dutch oven were $55 off *each*!!!

The Tefal frypan was reduced by about $38 as well.

The clothes dryer, not pictured, was reduced by half price.

Maybe next time I'll get the compressor and generator, and tools :-)

Am I alone in finding it hilarious that you, who work hard at finding the

We are not going to have opinions on how much Terry or anyone else should
pay for her clothes, are we? Some find it rewarding to pay a bit more for
something that continues to look good and lasts longer. Some think a couple
of grand is a good price for a work suit. And some have only clothes that
can be kept folded on a shelf. Let's allow room for all of them to do
whatever in privacy.

Ironic, isn't it?
Of course most folks recognize that what cybercat wears happens to be a

I'm sitting here in my Fruit of the Loom T shirt and Hanes briefs
contemplating what you said so elegantly. I guess I'll slip on my Dockers
now and head off to work.

I do not recall ever having heard a word on the subject, so her secrets are
safe with me. On a very different forum a few years ago someone asked out
of the blue, "What are you wearing today?" I was beyond tickled, because I
had just walked in from a posh trip to Rome and I was dressed to kill, even
to jewelry. The member still think I am a clothes horse, except for those
who have actually visited me.

I think we all have our days.

If you watch, cybercat often lambasts people with a listing of their
faults, and you will *swear* she's describing herself. It's pretty funny.

Trust me, the list isn't nearly long enough (for cybercat, that is). :-)

I personally suspect if she's not lambasting directly, her sock puppets are.

Only one shoulder?

Methinks she carries a log.

The fact that he was known to the family does not mean that he could
not be a predator. Many children are abducted or abused by people
they are familiar with. The tem "funny uncle" does not refer to a
comedian.

Koko should have put in an emoticon :-) I know Koko personally and she
was just teasing me. She also knows I'm a clothes horse. The DH and I
are blessed with good jobs, kids grown and gone and are in what is
euphemistically known as the "harvest years" (which actually means
"old").

Here's an OT subject :-)

As you type, right now...... what are you wearing?

Me....... @ 12:45am....... boots, two pairs of cotton socks, turnout pants,
station t-shirt, pager, station mobile phone. It's been my standard for the
last 7 days.

Ready, waiting.

Janet....... the most telling comment that Kathleen made was that her
daughter (obviously not a child) saw this person coming towards her and
felt threatened enough to back away.

In skydiving circles there is a saying... "When in doubt, whip it out."

Talking about deploying your reserve parachute.

Kathleens daughter saw a situation she wasn't at all comfortable with,
she reacted.

Full marks to her.

As for "dark fantasies"...... start reading the news from around the
world, love, and wake up to yourself.

Go to YouTube and look at the shit that is going on in there.
Look at the headlines from your own country.

Take off your rose coloured glasses.

maybe thirty years ago, when i lived in d.c., i went with my
girlfriend out to a super giant store in rockville, a suburb some
fifteen miles (?) distant. as we walked through the parking lot to
the store something seemed wrong, or at least not right, in some vague
way. all of a sudden it hit me: 'my god, everyone here is white!'

these days, you would have to go considerably further out of town,
maybe to utah.
