Every evening for nearly a week now an outfit that Caller ID
identifies as "Gallaway Research" has called on my home phone. I don't
answer and won't. If telemarketing is illegal if you've opted out, why
can't tele-researching be illegal, too? Just askin'.

OB: Made potato salad this weekend. IMHO, potato salad always tastes
best on about the third day after its creation. My mother's recipe (I
like to put in a little parsley for color, too):

@@@@@ Now You're Cooking! Export Format

Potato Salad

salads and salad dressings

2 1/2 cups potatoes; cooked, cubed
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon vinegar
1/2 cup onion; chopped
3/4 cup mayonnaise
salt
3 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
3 eggs, hard-boiled; chopped
paprika

Sprinkle potatoes with sugar and vinegar. Add onion, mayonnaise, salt
and celery seed to taste. Toss. Fold in 2 eggs. Decorate top with
rounds of egg and sprinkle with paprika for garnish. Chill.

So when they call ask Them your own survey questions then ask when you send
your bill. They get paid to ask you, it is only fair you get paid to
answer.

Because there are a lot of loopholes. You're in the loophole
business, so you should understand.

Galloway Research? http://www.gallowayresearch.com/home.htm

I always stick up for market research because I worked at a market research
firm during high school and college. For every rude person that hung up on
me there were many more that were more than happy to give their opinions on
whatever we were asking about, and our clients included brands and services
that I'm sure you use today. And yes, we did sometimes offer compensation
for people's opinions, but you get better results if people give their
opinions freely.

Even back in the 80's, computers generated the numbers that we dialed, and
when a person answered, we'd take over. If noone answered, the number would
go back into the queue. So, it's probably a computer dialing you, and if you
don't pick up, it will keep doing so.

Every product you buy, service you use, movie you watch, drug you take, or
candidate you vote for has millions of dollars and many hours of market
research behind it. Next time, throw caution to the wind and answer the
phone. You may not meet the preliminary demographic questions, but if you
do, it just might be fun and interesting.
Or not.

Every cow I eat has hundreds of tons of cow manure behind it, too.
That doesn't mean I want it flowing through my telephone into my
house.

If you're lucky, that cow manure fertilized the vegetables you eat and the
lawn you cut. Your consumption of the end result makes you responsible for
its production.

Red-skin potatoes or are you using something fancier?

I sometimes sprinkle Italian dressing (Wishbone oil and vinegar-type)
over the hot peeled and diced spuds.

Speaking of food: Did you make the marble cake? How'd you like it?

If it's Galloway Research, they are a market research firm, and not
doing telemarketing. Market research is exempt from the Federal DNC
lists, but the rules vary greatly state by state and any research
company that contacts you must put you on their own DNC list if you
request it.

OB: We had leftovers last night and cleaned out the fridge. Also had
a fine, fine salad made with fresh greens from the garden.

My mom always added extra hard boiled eggs...but removed their yolk as to
keep the colour less yellow. So her recipe (if I had it) would contain 6
HB Eggs 3 yolkless. It is the eve of my birthday and I'll be xszhopping
for a ham today...not one of those pre-cooked, pre skined, factory hams
either...but a true off the leg of a pig with excessive fat hams. This
weekend I cook the ham and my daughter makes the tater salad.

It is supposed to be heat treated before you get it...in other words
broasted.

Great idea! Wish I'd thought of it at the time. This is usually
something that will occur to me a half hour later in the parking lot
:-)

Yes, just have your answering system pre-answer and give the warning
that no unsolicited calls are accepted and continuing constitutes
criminal trespass on your private telecommunications infrastructure. The
public switched telephone network and any free speech rights end at the
telco demarc box outside your house, everything after that, including
your answering machine is private property.

Your "research" constitutes criminal trespass on my private
telecommunications infrastructure. Everything after the telco demarc
outside the house is private property.
