Default Birthday meals

Just curious if any of the US chain restaurants offer
free birthday meals any more?
I've heard of the birthday free eats but have never had a one
myself.

not that i know of. if the host/hostess is informed of a birthday,
sometimes, the wait staff will sing happy birthday and the dessert is
free to the birthday boy/girl.

If you make reservations in advance and for a minimum number of people
some restaurants will serve a free birthday cake, but the entire meal
for free... you gotta be kidding... what if you show up with twenty
people. Chucky Cheese serves free birthday cake...

There is a Boston Beanery in town here. I filled out a survey
card and they sent me a coupon for my birthday, but I think
it's a buy-one-get-one free deal, at best, and maybe just a
percentage off. I haven't gone back there in more than a year
anyway, and I just heard recently that they are closing down.

We have a small regional chain -" Paradiso" and their original
restaurant "Mexican Village" which have built their business on pretty
good "gringo" Mexican food with dinner free on your birthday. You and
a friend(s) eat and the birthday person's entree is free. You can have
entree or plate on the menu, but you pay for drinks, appetizers,
desserts etc. You have to show proof of age.

Also, at "Up the Creek" - a smallish national seafood chain- you get
any entree except the filet mignon or the bone in ribeye. They serve
pretty good fish (for the geographical center of North America!)

Red Robin will give you a birthday burger if you register with them.
About a week before your birthday you get an email for a free birthday
burger. The offer is good for a couple of weeks. This one has become a
silly birthday week tradition here.

Some of the local Mexican joints would offer a free meal to the
birthday-body where I used to live.

I have yet to find a place that didn't offer a free dessert or
libation of your choice when they found out there's a birthday at the
table. Of course, such perks come with a price -- like the staff
singing their own bizarre version of the birthday song.

Funny story ... Had some friends that the husband would find a way to
tell the staff it was his wife's birthday wherever they dined. Of
course, red faced and fuming she would deny it was her birthday, but
he would insist that she was just modest and please help them
celebrate. They got a lot of free stuff that way. As fun as he was to
be around, I'm glad I'm not married to him!
