I worked in the scone booth when I was in high school! People sure
rave about them, but they're really not that great...When I lived in
Santa Rosa, we would go to the Sonoma County fair- tacos & beer, and
then watch the horse races. That is still my favorite fair...

Go on and try it. The worst you can do
is make a fool of yourself in front of
all your friends.

Or poor Taffy Davenport, the mis - begotten daughter of Dawn Davenport in
the John Waters flick _Female Trouble_...

All the fairs I've been to have been in hot weather and outdoors. In
other words, beer time. Thus, the favorite food is something that
goes well with beer. Most of the time that means following the smell
of grilling sausages and picking whichever kind smells best. -aem

Apple fries are just what they sound like...apples cut into french fry
shapes and flash fried. Then they roll them in cinnamon and sugar. Served
with raspberry sauce "ketchup", and whipped cream, they are
delicious...sinfully so.
Funnel cakes are kind of like a fresh, hot cake donut. Only in a rounded
squiggle shape. I like mine with just powdered sugar, maybe a dusting of
cinnamon, but lots of people like fruit on theirs. My one exception is at
Knott's Berry Farm, where I feel compelled to have boysenberries on them!
