The basic Le Creuset pots have looked the same for 50 years (barring newer colors). There are ones older than that which have different, less modern, more deco styling. Steve |

Who are you calling a pheasant? > > > ba BOOM! _A Bird Song For The Cyberpussy_ [rumoured to be derived from Italian composer Ottorino Resphigi's composition _Ancient Airs And Dances For Skin [F]Lute...] "Me husband is a keeper, he's a very busy man, I try to understand him and I help him all I can, But sometimes of an evening I feel a trifle dim, All alone and plucking pheasants when I'd rather pluck with him. I'm not the pheasant plucker, I'm the pheasant plucker's mate And I'm only plucking pheasants Cause the pheasant plucker's late. I'm not good at plucking pheasants, pheasant plucking I get stuck, Though some peasants find it pleasant I'd much rather pluck a duck, Oh, but plucking geese is gorgeous, I can pluck a goose with ease But plucking pheasants is sheer torture, for they haven't any grease. I'm not the pheasant plucker, He has gone out on the tiles, He only plucked one pheasant And I'm sitting here with piles. You have to pluck them fresh, if they're fresh it's not unpleasant, I knew a man in Dunstable, could pluck a frozen pheasant. They say the village constable has pheasant plucking sessions With the vicar of a Sunday 'tween the first and second lessons. I'm not the pheasant plucker, I'm the pheasant plucker's son, And I'm only plucking pheasants Till the pheasant pluckers come. My good friend Godfrey's most adept, he's really got the knack, He likes to have a pheasant plucked before he hits the sack. I try and lend a helping hand, I gather up the feathers, It's really all this pheasant plucking keeps us here together. I'm not the pheasant plucker, I'm the pheasant plucker's friend, And I'm only plucking pheasants As a means unto an end. Me husband's in the woods all day, a-banging with his gun, If he could hear me heartfelt cries, then surely he would run, For I've fluff in all me crannies and there's feathers up me nose, And I'm itchin' in the kitchen' from me head down to me toes. I'm not the pheasant plucker, I'm the pheasant plucker's wife, And when we pluck together It's a pheasant plucking life..!!!" :--D -- Best Greg Morrow " I find Greg Morrow lowbrow, witless, and obnoxious. Especially relative to, say, getting an induction cooktop (so that your cheaper pots will heat more evenly)?? I've got a 70 year old stove in an 80 year old kitchen, and some of the Le Creusets are 20 years old. I think I'm doing things on the cheap. ![]() Steve |

Actually, I have an enviably huge collection of Le Creuset, but the point I made was that I bought it many years ago when I worked in a field where I could buy it well below cost. The collection I have would not be affordable to many today, or at least not many would want to spend that much money. I wouldn't and couldn't do so myself in present day. Not to mention that i certainly couldn't afford to buy an induction cooktop, even if I wanted one (which I do not). -- Wayne Boatwright ------------------------------------------- Monday, 06(VI)/30(XXX)/08(MMVIII) ------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- From my brain, an organ with a mind of its own. ------------------------------------------- |

IME the Le Creuset outlet store have an okay price, but if you wait until a sale at Macy's and also use a Macy's 15% off coupon (which seem to come in the mail from Macy's regularly), that gets down to a lower price than the outlet stores. Speaking of weddings.... have you seen the ijit on eBay who is auctioning the chance to be her bridesmaid to help offset the cost of her wedding?! The auction I looked at on Sunday is apparently closed, but for a mere starting bid of $5000 you could travel to Maryland (travel and accomodations not included) where you'd be provided with a dress, shoes and oh yes, you could bring a guest to her reception. WTF? There are more of these auctions out there with various starting bids. These people are deadly serious! Is that still true? I like the way it cooks (I bought one 2 qt. saucepan years ago), but I generally won't buy anything that I use regularly that can't go in the dishwasher.l -- Wayne Boatwright ------------------------------------------- Tuesday, 07(VII)/01(I)/08(MMVIII) ------------------------------------------- Today is: Canada Day ------------------------------------------- Cats must ask to be (fed/petted/let out) when the humans are making whoopee. ------------------------------------------- |

I have a few of those and they've never seen the D/W. They're great pans, but I still prefer my old cast iron. The old Griswold's are just as non-stick as the anodized. But neither goes in the D/W. It's stainless with aluminum bonded inside. There are a few grades of it -- I'd avoid the cheapest which is called "Simply Calphalon". The next grade up is "Tri-Ply" and is (IMO) as good as you need to get. Then there are more expensive grades so that the yuppies can subsidize the rest of us. Steve |
