I looked at that pile and I was wondering if he got his security deposit back? Actually, with a can crusher and a few trips to the recycling place he could have got some money back. You have to wash them and let them dry upside down and repack then in the carton they came it. At least they're getting used and they actually do look pretty cool. Lou |

He for sure did not understand why I was doing that to him, but once he caught on, he didn't mind it. > Funny, though, she loves to take showers with us. The first haul she took to the scrap metal place was 94 pounds and she got about $35 US for it. Hardly made it worthwhile running around picking up cans, PLUS having to crush them, from those saving for us. That haul looks like it might bring in $100? A case of water from TJ'S has $2.40 that goes to the state for recycling. You can get your money back but you have to tell the recycle center to COUNT the bottles and cans or they weigh them and you only get about 1/2 your money back. -- Old Scoundrel (AKA Dimitri) |

Other than a few trips back as a teenager and then later on business (mostly saw O'Hare) I really didn't get back until a few years ago. On my last trip back we stayed on Michigan Avenue in the loop. A friend drove us around, but after ALL those years I was actually able to direct him to the apartment building where we lived for my first 14 years. After all that time I still knew Chicago!
