First, educate yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago-style_hot_dog Second, find a place: http://www.viennabeef.com/dogfinder/ Not completely accurate. There's also Chicago's Metropolitan Deli in Pleasanton, CA. There has to be more CA. I've never had a hot dog in Chicago, but know the exact location of the closest chi-dog dispenser (92 miles). ![]() nb |

And "neon relish" turns out to be pickle relish. I'll bet these two names were dreamed up by some Brit in Chicagoan's clothing; they have silly nicknames for lots of things. -- Blinky Is your ISP dropping Usenet? Both the sport peppers and relish have distinct flavors. I've tried many different bottled peppers and none taste like sports do. The flavor blend of the sports and the sweet relish is what makes the dogs unique. https://www.viennabeefstore.com/shop...el_idnum=18026 More info here. Lou |

The relish is not that great tasting, IMO, but it's good and it's damned sure neon green. Never looked to see if it glows in the dark. The peppers are unique, but any small hot pepper would do. I use pepperocinis. But, those dogs are hard to beat. Vienna beef dogs are by far and away the best dog I've ever tasted. Nathan's? Yawn. Hebrew National? ...ehh. Problem is, getting 'em anywhere except a chi-dog stand or mail order, can't get 'em, and mail order is very pricey. Better to find a vendor. nb |

It is very odd you can't get the fixins outside Chicago. We get everything including the S.Rosin buns at any grocery store. Even Costco sells the stuff. Lou |

I probably committed a misdemeanor for not eating one. I also missed the Italian beef sandwich. That's probably a felony?!? And dammit, I would've eaten a whole deep dish pizza by myself (!!!) if I'd only known! F**k my bosses!!! Dammit!!! We had to eat at fancy places like "The Bakery," iirc. The BUMS!!! If only I had family in Chicago, I'd be back. And Colorado nb, I've been all over Colorado. Ski'd Aspen. Met up and dated a gorgeous 10-year-old girl who lived there for two days on the slopes (same aged, BTW!). Saw BU on a mountain top in Boulder along a straight-away. I liked Aspen best. My girl!!! I should've asked her to marry me on the chairlift!!! Dammit!!! After that Denver held NO attraction! Andy Kissed and Hugged in Colorado! |

We send care packages to one of the girls up in Seattle and sometimes it seems we'd be better off just putting money in her account. Lou |

After a > chi-dog, all others are just lame. The only useful purpose Chicagoans serve is to **** off New Yorkers. We need them to devise a "Chicago-style bagel" to complete the trifecta. There's a hotdog place in St. Louis, Woofies, that is blessed by some of the Chicago transplants at work. I never eat that craptastic Chicago-style thing, but a nice coney island or a dog with kraut and mustard hits the spot.
