Linda Rodriguez won't be released for a while yet. But I know little of mexican cooking so the ease of the basic recipes is a good thing. 300 recipes should be able to find 1 or 2 I'll enjoy. Latter when more at ase in the style I'll move on to less basic recipes or not. Mangoes and curry leaves. Jeffrey Alford and Naomi Duguid has Chis D thumbs up so it should be good. -- The house of the burning beet-Alan |

Isn't it nice that that series is available at a low price now? Having procrastinated for years at the higher prices, I finally got the SE Asian volume. Do you recommend the German one? Any other recommendations? I splurged yesterday and got The Oxford Companion to American Food and Drink. Ouch, even with a discount coupon! I THINK the last current cookbook I got was Neelam Batra's 1000 Indian Recipes. Of course, I also have gotten several old cookbooks and some Boston Cooking School and American Cookery magazines. -- Jean B. |

Yours truly has some articles in there (under my real name, which I'm not telling LOL). There is a concise version, which is the one they gave us! |

Now I am most curious. I wonder whether I would even get a clue if I read every single word! I don't think I've seen the concise version.... Anyhoo, I'd been eying the tome for about 6 months, I guess, hoping I'd at least have a hefty coupon to add to my normal book discount. I ended up using an okay coupon at a store with NO discount, just because I am trying to throw them some business. -- Jean B. |

Plus there are some regional recipes in there with which I'm not familiar, or else my mother knew what they were but not how to prepare them. |

The really cheap ones are at Borders, if that does you any good. I have seen two different prices on them though. I have that one too--actually the Penguin paperback edition, which does weigh considerably less. -- Jean B. |
