Hey can we run the same one later but for crockpots and omitting the
question on blowing up? Might be interesting!

I think it's been done. Cathy will correct me if I'm wrong.

FINALLY, some tin foil attire! I was getting ready to buy a Barbie
doll and see what I could do to contribute to the cause.

pressure cookers and crockpots, have them but don't use them. I
have a limited number of items I'd make in a crockpot and it's a PITA
replacing the rubber ring in the pressure cooker. One of these days,
I'll look for a pressure cooker that doesn't require a gasket.
Neither gadget is at the top of my list of "need to use".

Ginny, conmmon sense use with pressure cookers is all it takes. My mom had
three, a 4-quart, an 8-quart, and a canner. She used them all and fairly
often. In the many decades she used them, there was never a single mishap.
With pressure cookers, it's all about due diligence.

My aunt, OTOH, paid little attention to how she used her pressure cookers.
On two different occasions she let the pressure build up too high in her
canner and the lid blew off and into the ceiling. (The safety valves don't
always work, although hers was old.) Luckily no one was in the room, but
since she was canning tomatoes, her entire kitchen looked like one. :-)

Never owned one, don't want one. However, I have
used them. I used to live with my aunt and she
had one and I used it from time to time. I hate
them. I don't really see the point of them and
they make me somewhat nervous and I'm not really
a nervous or timid person. There's just something
about pressure cookers.

While I'm being a Luddite, I also don't like dishwashers
and garbage disposals.

I hava a slow-cooker, not a crockpot. I never wanted a
crockpot, but I thought slow-cookers were were okay. However,
I had mine for 20 years before I actually started using it
a few years ago. I had to "force" myself to get into the
habit but now I use it a lot. I really love it.

they're good for some things, like cooking a beef shank, when you want
hurry up soup.

Then you *are* a Luddite! LOL! Do you work in a buggy whip factory?
I gather you're ok with computers. How about telephones and cars?

Yep, computers, telephones, and cars are fine. However,
I really prefer the old-fashioned giant telephones to the
newer slim-line models. And, although I have a cell phone
I don't really like using it, I only have it for emergencies.
I would never use it for just chatting with someone. And I
especially don't like the newer tiny models, I'd rather have
a larger one that reaches from my ear to my mouth.

I also don't see the point of bread machines. Never wanted
an electric can opener, never wanted an electric carving
knife. Microwave ovens on the other hand definitely have
their uses.

I never took to the Walkman and I still think it's ridiculous
to walk around with something plugged into your ear. I prefer
to listen to my music while I'm sitting still. ;-) Or dancing.
Also, don't like the giant screen tv's. I think 19" is big enough.
I don't want to see anything blown up to that size. And especially
not in HD, I mean who wants to see pores large enough to go spelunking
in? Sheesh! I like low def tv. Leave something to the imagination!

Let's see . . . what else . . . oh, yeah, and then there's
spandex! Best left for undergarments. No one, and I mean
absolutely no one, looks good in spandex. Especially not
baseball players. Bring back the uniforms of the 40's and
50's. Nice loose pants. Leave things to the imagination!
