Default Farberware Classic and Millenium top interchange?

I have a bunch of Farberware Classic pieces -- about 15 years old and
still going strong. I'm thinking of getting some Farberware Milenium
and wonder if the tops are interchangle in terms of sizes.

TIA,

JT

Why? Doesn't the Milenium come with lids?

They're a different configuration so the lids from one won't fit the
other... but your new pots will come with lids... Farberware doesn't
sell pots without the lids.

I can't speak for the Millenium, but I bought a new Classic
frying pan and the lid doesn't fit the older pot. They are not the
same as they used to be.

No, and usually not for the better. Sometimes.

Nope, they're a different diameter. I discovered the difference
because my old 6 quart Classic developed a crack at the rim so I sent
it back to Farberware. They sent me back the new Classic with the
Stainless steel encapsulated bottom, a very nicely made pot (with a
letter explaining that they no longer make the old style). But I was
disappointed in that the new 6 quart pot is a full inch smaller
diameter and has higher sides; the old one was my favorite pot for
frying pork chops, chicken breasts and such as it would hold six
nicely. Because of it's relatively high sides there was little
spatter, I used it as a braizer, the new small diameter pot barely
holds four. The new Classic is a very nice pot for the price but I
think Farberware screwed up in making their new line a smaller
diameter, if anything they should have made them a larger diameter.

The new Classic is a far, far better construction... the entire pot is
of thicker material, especially the bottom... I just wish they
maintained the same dimensions. If anyone is just starting up a home
kitchen on a limited budget the new Farberware Classic is the best
cookware for the price.

Yes, I drove myself (and this newsgroup) crazy trying to find a
replacement for my old Farberware frying pan, when I finally just
ordered one, sure enough it wasn't the same. Smaller diameter,
higher sides. Nice pan, but I prefered the dimensions of the previous
one.

Little did I know when those Farberware pots and pans came in
great sets and individual pieces, I should have bought extras.
I wonder what I should be stocking up on today, something that
I'll look back and think, You should have bought two.

Thanks for the info.

I like just grabbing lids quickly and it's nice having a lot of lids
that interchange among various pots/pans of similar size.

that kinda stuff drives me nuts. when something finally breaks, i
usually want to replace it with the exact same thing, and it's almost
never there.
