Default My Pulled Pork dinner

Heya all,

I finally uploaded the pics of my smoked pork shoulder and the
resulting dinner on the 4th of July.

It turned out well..if I do say so myself. I am still eating pulled
pork, but I am about ready to put the rest in the freezer, to pull out
later when I get a craving.

I also smoked some ribs...along with the pork shoulder. Both of them
just off the smoker:

Pulling the pork:

The North Carolina style vinegar sauce:

The baked beans from my mother's recipe:
http://i29.tinypic.com/25q8wmh.jpg

The rest of the dinner, including potato salad and coleslaw, buns.
http://i28.tinypic.com/2n8cso1.jpg

I forgot to take a pic of the ice cream, but I did take a picture of
the hot chocolate sauce. This is from David Lebovitz, and ohmygawd,
it is incredible. I can eat it right from the pot!
http://i30.tinypic.com/3313shs.jpg

The resulting "sundaes" were good, made from roasted banana ice cream,
with a few sliced bananas around them, covered with above chocolate
sauce and whipped cream. I wish I had remembered to take a picture.

Hey woman!

Everything looked delicious! I'm glad it was a good experience for you. You
made my husband's style of sauce too...he loves that. I'm more of the
tomato-based sauce type..he likes the vinegar and mustard based sauces.

Can you post the recipes for the baked beans and the hot fudge sauce? Oh,
and my husband just asked if you could post the ice cream too..he's a banana
fiend.

Thanks

Congratulations. That looks exactly like it's supposed to. <G>

If it tasted half as good as it looks, it was marvelous.

Wow! I think I'm going to need to get some pulled pork for lunch after
looking at that. Only place I can think of near here is Red Robin.

Thanks. This is a real compliment to me, especially coming from you,
one of the BBQ mavens.

It does taste marvelous.

Next time though, I am tempted to do my ribs just plain, except for
salt and pepper. I think the rub overpowered them a bit...

As it came out from resting a bit (TFM cautioned me on letting it
rest) everyone and I mean EVERYONE was standing around it, and
snatching pieces of it. I practically had to smack hands away from
it...so I could pull it. They just couldn't resist. I couldn't
either...

Now you have a serious problem.

You've been bitten by the Success Bug.

I'm not enamored with bbq rubs either (I prefer my own herbs). Did
you put a rub on the pork shoulder too?

now you're getting my attention - how about smoking a corned beef
too? Isn't that how they make home made pastrami?

Yes, I could make pastrami too. In fact, that may be on my list as
well. I was reading in the book Charcuterie, that it is smoked, then
steamed. Maybe I could make some later this summer...like when I have
company..

It would be interesting to see how it turns out...

No, that was just plain. I thought about it, but decided against it.
