I would call that a little obsessive - some of those germs are helping
your body create antibodies so they won't fall victim to every little
nuanced germ or bug that comes along.

I don't worry about public bus rails - our buses are pretty clean -
but I always wash my hands when I get home, AND I keep my hands away
from my face. That's the best thing you can do to keep the nasties
away.

I think it depends on what you buy there... I would only buy canned/
bottled products, those I can't readily buy elsewhere... I'd not buy
any fresh foods. I used to shop at an Hispanic market like you
describe. I learned to never buy any dried staples there like sugar,
rice, flour, noodles, cereals, even baked goods... when I got home I
realized that all these products had absorbed the odors of their fresh
fish section and smoked fish/meats, even their bags stunk... I had
brought the redolent aroma of the store home, I had to toss all those
products in the trash.

Maybe next trip you can bring a can of Lysol to spray the baskets,
etc... and wear disposable plastic gloves and a surgeon's mask.

Perhaps you should bring your own basket or bag?

Some of those were bad. The Market Basket in Burlington also
strike me as being dirty--but maybe it's more dark and dingy.

Help me out with that, would you? I only know Daltonism as a colorblind

'purity supreme' sounds more like the name of a wacky church than a
grocery store.

Not as healthy as the mice running the food court at O'hare airport.

They claim they have made lots of progress in getting rid of them. I

WHAAAAAAAT? Your moma never taught you the fine art of an aerial assault?
Takes muscles of steel in your thighs, but it is possible, ladies (and some
guys) to position yourself over a public toilet and relieve yourself without
ever touching the porcelain.

Geeze. Tell me you're not one of those women who will urinate all over
the seat rather than risk contaminating your precious buns, and leave
the cleanup to the next mother with small child in tow...

This is precisely why women's toilets get disgusting.

Forget the small child in tow. How about anyone having to clean up her
urine because she prinkles when she tinkles? Sheesh, get a grip, people.
Most public restrooms have those "seat covers" you can put down if you're
that paranoid. If they don't and you have to do the hover-craft routine, at
least raise the seat. Not like you're sitting on it, so put it up and do
your thing. Oh, and learn to flush the toilet, too, even if you have to do
it with your foot or your elbow. Sheesh.

I hate public rest rooms, but when I use them, I plant my ass
squarely on the seat, after having a good look at it.

While braving a department store during the July 4th sales, I
noticed a container of sanitizing cloths on top of the tp dispenser,
for wiping the seat. A pretty good idea for those who are worried
about germs. I think it's probably true that you get more germs
from the door handle than the seat, anyway. I sit on the seat, but
open the door out with a paper towel.

And that's more than you need to know right there. You cute thing.

Hispanic and Asian markets are examples of what their home markets are.
The people in the states should be thankful we have the strict standards
for food and health. Look at this last tomato
scare from Mexico.

Stick to the large grocery chains for clean fresh produce and meats. The
extra expense is worth is. Also check out the local farmers markets of
items grown locally.

I think they already know, hence their ability to slip into something a
little more antibiotic-resistant.
