i still say spam from googlegroups has dropped off immensely of late
(using both verizon and teranews newsfeeds). i mean, i've killed some
subject headers and individuals, but it's not the flood it once was.

I use comcast (outsourced to giganews) and that's the case for me too.
Thank goodness! What we get now is (still) annoying, but manageable.

I cannot argue with you, because I haven't seen if and/or whether
the 'flood' has subsided because I still have (most of) the Google Groups
(GG) posters filtered out, therefore I haven't seen the aforementioned spam
posts (or lack thereof) for the last couple of months.

There are two ways for me to find out for myself, I suppose - either remove
the filter from my newsreader and see what appears, or look at r.f.c. from
my browser via the GG interface...

Naaah. I'll do neither. I've made exceptions for (most of) the
foodies/regulars who post via GG (which is less than 20 posters, IMHO). And
if some 'newbie' GG foodies start posting here, there are enough regulars
around who quote their posts - which makes it pretty easy for me to figure
out who to add to my exception list (or not).

i was gonna do that, but my list of exceptions (some may not be
regulars, some are gmailers) grew to about sixty, so i punted.
