Default fruit seasoning

Early in the summer, I bought on a whim a shaker bottle of fruit
seasoning -- red pepper, salt, and dehydrated lime juice. I have been
enjoying it so much sprinkled over apple slices. It's a new taste to
me and it really hits the spot on those days where nothing sounds good
to eat. I think it would be delicious on melon or coconut or
cucumber. Yes, I know I could season fruit with my own salt and red
pepper and a squeeze of lime.

Today, I sprinkled the fruit seasoning over buttered popcorn and it
was delicious.

It is also good on pineapples, mangos and papayas too. They sell it in
the produce section here in Louisiana and Texas.

I didn't care for it...but most of my "elderly" family always used
pepper on muskmelon. I know, it is a Michigan tradition name. You
probably know it as cantelope.

Try a mix of lemon pepper and chile powder; either the pure chile or the
'compound' sort. Tastes good on all sorts of
fruit/cucumbers/radishes/jicama etc. With or without mayonnaise.

Popular Mexican seasoning. They even make it into little shaker
bottles called "Lucas" for Mexican kids to shake on their hand and
lick it off. It's available at every convenience store in hispanic
areas.

I have a jar of the Pico de Gallo powder i purchased at at the local Mexican
store quite a while ago. We were at the Ventura County Fair, They had a
roasted corn stand with an amazing roasting machine. The Hispanics were
using this stuff and fresh lime squeezed over the fresh roasted elotes
(corn).. I looked at the jar and then bought some. Holy Cow! That stuff is
HOT!

But then again I am not a good judge I don't care for really hot (spicy)
foods.

cantaloupe needs black pepper, so red pepper in 'fruit seasoning'
makes sense.

For a late lunch today, I sprinkled the fruit seasoning over avocado.
Very, very good.
