Andy's post got me thinking about Breakfast as it usually does.
To me breakfast is a variable depending on the day the amount of time, any company, what's in the fridge, ad infinitum ad nauseam! When I was a kid (a very long time ago). Our favorite breakfast was scratch pancakes made by Era our maid. ( She also made scratch biscuit hamburgers). If I really had my druthers It would be: Fresh Coffee Some nice toast (crispy like cracked wheat or the Old Oroweat not the new crap they're making) Real Butter (sweet or salted) A hunk of Cheese on a board & a cheese cutter. Occasionally some cold cuts. If you had your Druthers? -- Old Scoundrel (AKA Dimitri) |

Old Scoundrel, Can't ya leave me out of it?!? I AM being framed!!! ![]() When I worked night shift and we got off work at 6:00 am, it was Miller Time! NOT that we drank that stuff! Several branches of the company would meet up at the same bar and party and talk shop! Put off the breakfast crowd in the restaurant section something terrible! but, TOUGH!!! You had YOUR happy hour, we're having OURS!!! "Anything is good for breakfast unless there's a warning on the packaging." --Andy |

Our maid made tortillas (sort of like a frittata) with potatoes and onions, cooked in olive oil. Yum. I still make them fairly frequently. > > If I really had my druthers It would be: > > Fresh Coffee > Some nice toast (crispy like cracked wheat or the Old Oroweat not the > new crap they're making) > Real Butter (sweet or salted) > A hunk of Cheese on a board & a cheese cutter. > Occasionally some cold cuts. > > If you had your Druthers? As long as I have a couple hours to develop hunger, I can handle anything for breakfast, and don't really have a strong preference. I also like "breakfast foods" for dinner. I stumble out of bed about 4 PM, and can do some tea and nosh a little, but I surely can't think real food until I punch that time clock about 6:45 PM. Come 7:30 PM we're all scrambling to plan dinner if we need to order out. Most of us eat about 10 PM or so. We do tend to snack a lot throughout the night. |

OK, correct me if I'm wrong, three sunny side up eggs with hash browned potatoes with a pair o' split biscuits (that means 4 face ups) drowned in sausage gravy, a chicken fried steak drowned in more of the same, for lunch?!!
