I'm not anti-Dr Pepper or anti-soda/pop, but I rarely drink it. In fact, I
never drink it at home. David, OTOH, drinks nothing but Diet Caffeine-Free
Pepsi, orange or V-8 Juice, or bottled water. Occasional I will order a
regular Coke if I'm having a burger or pizza in a restaurant. My standard
beverage is unadulterated, brewed iced tea, though I do drink orange or V-8
Juice at breakfast.

An equally unscary thought. Do you ever eat real food?

Nothing amazing about it. I don't drink soda/pop either. Sugary sweet
carbonated beverages hold no appeal.

Never had an Oyster Stout, but I love Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. Another
one of my favorites was Watney's Cream Stout, but I haven't seen that in
years. Another unusual flavored beer I had was a Rauchbier, imported from
Germany, of course. It wasn't a stout, but it had a distinct smoke flavor
to it. I'm guessing they smoked the grains before boiling them to impart
the flavor.

Technically a stout isn't a beer, but yes, for the sake of understanding,
yes. :~)

I didn't drink soda for years, but as of late I have to have my diet Sprite
in the morning. It's soothing to my stomach - which tends to get really
upset lately. I can't have caffeine, I'm not going to drink sugared drinks,
so I go with diet Sprite or the Publix brand equivalent. After my glass of
Sprite, I usually have a mug of herbal tea.

I had a terrible tickle-in-throat cough while staying at a friend's house.
His mom was a hypochondriac and had every over-the-shelf cough medicine on
the market. None even slowed my cough down. We were up in the attack going
through some of his stuff when I found another box of old drugstore meds.
One was McKesson cough syrup w/ codeine. One tablespoon and 3 days of agony
was gone in about 3 seconds! It's a pity we pay millions for useless
remedies and have to pay a doctor exhobitant rates for a simple solution to
a simple problem.

As I use the words, "beer" is generic and "stout", "ale", "lager",
"hefeweizen" etc. are types of beer.

As an aside, I detest sweet beers like McKesson's stout and most Belgian
Lambics, but that's a personal viewpoint.

That's the usual way.

I used to drink mostly diet/decaf colas, but lately the diet lemon-limes
(7-Up, Sprite, Sierra Mist...) have been tasting more refreshing, and I'm
drinking more of them and fewer colas.

I'm indifferent to it. I drank it when I was young, but I don't have
the taste for sweet
things that I had 20 or 30 years ago. I'd drink it if no better
choice (such as water)
was available.

a coca-cola made with sugar was a lot crisper. now they seem to lay
heavily on the tongue.

For many years cheracol was an over the counter medication then you had to
sign and ultimately it became scrip only.

It's a simple formula: abuse = regulation.

Coke's my least favorite of the colas I know. I find it kind of heavy;
between the Big Two Colas, I like the lighter and more interesting mix of
flavors Pepsi offers.

When I was a kid, I was a Dr. Pepper addict. I must admit I haven't
had one in a very long time, and your posting here has spiked my
interest once again! Guess I'll need to pick some up when I visit the
grocery store.

Generally, if I'm not drinking water, I'll drink Diet Pepsi. I'm
trying to wean myself from cola and soda outright!

Heh. Frequently, we can't even let the terminally ill have access
to adequate pain meds because they might become addicted. :-(

Why amazing? It has absolutely no food value - well, maybe some
negatives - I've never bought it and rarely ever drank it, even when I
was young. And now I'm old.

I hope this is a good thing! Just drink it in moderation. I always buy
canned pop to help control how much I drink. I usually drink one can
per meal and water. I definitely have to drink pop when I eat pizza!
