Default frozen pie report

Earlier I asked about Claim Jumpers frozen lemon meringue pie. Ended
up buying one. Let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator as
recommended on the package. We didn't particularly like it. The
crust was mediocre, the filling lacked any tartness, the meringue
was ... weirdly synthetic in some way I can't describe. It's okay
enough for us to finish it eventually, but not good enough to buy
another. Sometimes I think we should find a church just so we could
go to bake sales..... -aem

My favorite Lemon Pie!

@@@@@ Now You're Cooking! Export Format

Lemon Delicious Pie

desserts, fruits, pies

1 cup sugar
3 tablespoon cornstarch
2 oz butter
1/4 cup lemon juice
3 egg yolks, unbeaten
1 cup milk
1 cup sour cream
1 9 pie shell, baked
----TOPPING----
1 whipped cream or
1 meringue from 3 egg whites

Mix sugar and cornstarch. Combine with butter, lemon juice, egg yolks
and
milk. Cook in top of a double boiler until thick and cooked. Remove
from
heat and let cool.

When cool, stir in sour cream. Pour into baked pie shell.

Serve with whipped cream or make meringue with 3 egg whites.

Meringue: 3 egg whites 1/4 ts cream tartar 6 tablespoons sugar.

Preheat oven to 425F. In Mixing bowl, beat egg whites until frothy.
Add
cream of tartar and beat until stiff peaks form. Gradually beat in
sugar
and continue beating until stiff and glossy. Pile meringue lightly on
cooled pie making sure it touches edge of pastry to prevent it from
shrinking. Bake five to six minutes.

Notes: W. H. Stoneman

Yield: 8 servings

Back in Cleveland many of the European ethnic Catholic churches made and
sold things like poppyseed and nut rolls, strudel, and pierohy. They were
sold on either a weekly or monthly schedule, depending on the church.
Everyone I knew, whether church memebers or not, bought these items because
they were better than any local bakery could produce. They sold their
goods to anyone who came in, and if you didn't get there early on a
Saturday morning, there was very little left.

Thanks for the review. Here, you don't have to belong to a church
to go to sales. Also, sometimes library book sales are
accompanied by bake sales. Of course, I am trying to ignore all
such things.

You missed an opportunity, Pal Blake: you should have said "something about
spreading the good curd"

In the beginning was the Curd, and the Curd was with God, and the Curd
was God. John 1:1
