So sorry for your loss there!

As to weight loss, there are many ways. May I suggest a trip to the library
and the cook book section? Then you can look over some of the lower
calorie/fat books and check one out to try. If you then find you like that
book, you are apt to find it on Amazon.com so can buy it fairly cheaply if
you do not mind 'used'. I buy lots of books from there and have had good
service.

If the library doesnt enthuse you, you can go to a book store and peruse the
choices there.

If money is an issue, you may want to google for MealMaster and pick up a
copy (freeware now) and then some of the excellent recipes out there for
free download in MM format. I can even select a bunch of recipes and have
it make me a shopping list.

i've also had good results with amazon used books (c.d.'s, too). if the
seller ****s up, amazon makes it right.
