That's 2.600 each montth on average, which is indeed 1.700 after taxes. That's $2.500 nett income each month. But..... life is holland is very expensive. An average house of 100 m2 costs 260.000 euros which is $390.000 ! Gas is not $4 a gallon like in the USA but $9 (!) a gallon! Yes, 9 fukking US $ a gallon! Parking on the streets of amsterdam is 5 euros for each hour which is $7,50 for one hour! One beer is $3,50 , one coke is $3,50 at a cafetaria. Sales tax is avg 6% in the USA, Holland it's 19%!!!!!! Then an average car like the VW Golf is 18.000 euros which is $25,000 !!! The same ****ing car that is like what? $15,000 in the USA? And we pay on average for this car $60 "mobile taxes" each month! Yes, above the $9 a a gallon. WHy you ask? Because our minister of finance Wouter Bos is a puppet who in reality works for Shell. His big example, Wim Cock <-- no joke, his name ik Kok, honest! - was also minister of finance and a socialist and is now filling is his pockets at Shell too! We say in Holland: Left cocking, right stocking. so even though you all earn $2000 nett each month in the USA it's *your* money and it won't get taken by the govt. after that. We get stolen all of the time here, that's why we vote Geert Wilders and Rita Verdonk. They are gonna lower the taxes and end all problems here after we send Mister Balkellende (Harry Potter) home. |

As a kid, during the summer we would often see canned pears on a bed of lettuce with grated cheddar cheese on top as our salad. A dollop of jarred mayo usually happened also. -- Dan Abel Petaluma, California USA |

On the farm, that is. While I'm not on a farm by a long shot, I did have to dry the overabundant fig crop this summer (and last). You can't eat them all when they're in season (a brief couple of weeks, mostly), and damned if I can let them all go to waste. As to canned pears on lettuce with cheese and mayo served as a salad, I lived in that America as a youth, myself. -- modom I have long maintained that Texans are not easy to love: we are, like anchovies, an acquired taste. -- Molly Ivins ** Posted from http://www.teranews.com ** |
