I bought a container of DREYERS ( also EDY's )
butter pecan ...... ice cream. Tho the container says "Butter Pecan", the smaller print announces; "Frozen Dairy Dessert" No where on the box does it say "Ice Cream" and the ingredients look like the chemistry list from "Lil Debbie" cupcakes. First, smaller "half-gallons" now.... "dairy dessert" Are we seeing the end of real ice cream ? |

Non dairy frozen desserts have been around a long, long time... most soft serve frozen custard started out as a non dairy product. |

If you want a half gallon of ice cream you have to get the next level down, i.e., the store label that comes in the square box type of packaging. harriet & critter |

Yep, someone should learn to read labels (regardless of the size of print - maybe buy some reading glasses?). Ice Cream is clearly labelled. Publix Ice Cream (the store version) not only says it's ice cream but also is still an actual 1/2 gallon. It's only when you start playing the name-game you find the containers shrink as the price goes up. Jill |

Looking at the website, I see that the Slow Churned sounds like what RJ picked up. I guess when they start trying to make ice cream lower in fat, they have to put something in besides cream. nancy |

And the 1.75 qt. half gallon is now the 1.5 qt. half gallon! At least Ben and Jerry's pint is still a pint, although who know for how much longer!!! Well, Edy's has always been pretty bad, chock full of gums and things. However, they do still make ice cream.
