There's probably no other vegetable so easy to grow as peas... and
that includes snow peas and sugar peas... and no other so good as
fresh picked.

I eat a LOT of tossed salads, and I like canned peas in tossed salads, makes
a nice difference in texture from the crispier ingredients, e.g. iceberg
lettuce and such. I also buy canned green beans and corn to put in my
tossed salads...

And I adore frozen peas and use them in a myriad of things. I make a lot of
stir - fry type stuff and I'll add a handful of frozen peas at the end of
cooking, nice color and texture. And frozen peas will work fine in a salad,
just throw on and wait a coupla minutes to thaw...

IMNSHO peas are a food group, I like them canned, frozen, fresh, in "pod"
form...pea shoots are a treat too if you can find them.

Cheap, easy, and tasty...almost as good as sex...

MCNL on frozen. My freezer space is seldom used to store such so cant really
say.
I've normally either not had space, or have to stock several months worth in
cans when away at sea.

I like peas. My parents liked peas. My oldest brother likes them. My
other two brothers hate them. I can't figure that out. I don't know what
there is to hate about peas.

Bags of frozen peas make great (reusable) ice packs. when they thaw
just throw 'em back in the freezer.

Yep, and that's the ONLY way I'll ever use peas!!! As cold-packs for
any sort of injury. Any other use is, particularly as an edible dish,
is not an option in my home! <G> So the 'do not eat' warning is not
required - it's a given!

I had a friend in high school who loved those. I guess I can put
them in a separate 'they're not bad' category. But I think canning
is harsh for most vegetables, and peas are the most delicate ones
I can think of. Canned corn, okay. Tomatoes, sure. Beans.

Haven't had them in years, but I even have a thing for those canned
potatoes.

Peas, too mushy canned. Frozen is the way for me. Fresh is nice,
but as Dave said, geez you have to peel a ton of them to get enough.
And I only see them in the spring.

(laugh) I'll just say the peas are mushy because they're canned.

Every summer and spring, a local farm to me (Swank Farms!) provides
fresh English Peas, both hulled and still-in-pod. I love them! I will
happily purchase 10-lb bags of still-in-pod peas and leave them out
for snacking. The daughter-units _will_ hull them but prefer the
alternative (me). The hulled peas are only sold in pints and can get
quite expensive so I only do those when I have a specific dish in mind
and am pressed for time. I also love S&W's peas. I grew up with my
parents canning peas every year so I looked for a product that is very
similar; S&W is nostalgia-settling. Frozen peas are simply part of our
regular menu. I can add them to virtually any dish, as a side, or to a
salad.

My favorite use for frozen peas is to reheat leftover rice in butter in
a frying pan, letting it get nice and buttery, then tossing frozen peas
in to heat up. It makes for a tasty, easy side dish using the leftover rice.

I don't like the petit peas (frozen or otherwise).
I prefer the regular big peas. However I've noticed
the last couple of years that the regular frozen peas
are a lot smaller than they used to be, although not
nearly as small as the petits. I wonder why that is?

I also prefer the large fordhook limas to the baby
limas.

Why not do a survey on lima beans as well?
I think that's another veg that lots of people
hate. Me I love 'em.

Even though I like my peas (and my limas) well done, i.e.
not al dente - which seems to be the trend these days.
I still don't care for canned peas (or limas) as they
get a horrible mushy texture when canned.

I've never tried it but landing in a corn circle sounds a lot more

Peas of all kinds are only fit for the pea shooter! WHAP! Right between the
eyes! (Or, in the case of canned peas, "POP! ---->splat"

I'll do the petit peas (happily) frozen. I think the larger green peas tend
to have harder skins on them when they're frozen. As for limas, I'll only
use them cooked down in soup with chunks of smoked ham hocks, garlic,
celery, homemade stock, and minced onion. Doesn't matter with the size on
limas because when I make any kind of pea or lentil soup, I cook it down. I
prefer a smoother texture. It's all personal preference, right? :~)
