No, I've never sought medical attention for gout.
I can control it entirely through diet. It's when
I make dietary mistakes that I get gout. Eating
too much meat has been responsible for nearly
all of my gout attacks. There was one attack
caused by eating too many isolated soy protein
morsels that I pan-fried, and other attacks
caused or exacerbated by eggs or feta cheese.

I don't think I should take a drug for a condition
that can be avoided through diet. Especially
a drug like colchicine which interferes with very
fundamental cellular processes in a bad way.

I've tried dried cherries, and they didn't do a thing.
I believe cherries for gout is malarkey.

I've had gout at least that severe. Since the two
major attacks I had in 2000, I've been much more careful.

From extensive experience, I can say with certainty
that those sausages were the primary cause of my gout
last week. If I were to go vegan for the rest of my
life, I probably would never have another gout attack.
If I did, it would only be because a new risk factor
emerged.

If you have had your GP, plus a rheumatologist, plus
a podiatrist all tell you that you have joint damage
secondary to gout, damage that occured during a 6 year intercritical
period where you had absolutely no symptoms and thought you were
fine, you wouldn't be so certain of this.

If you have even one gout attack and have high serum uric acid,
strongly consider having it treated.
