Serene, did you ever get around to making that *unusual* macaroni salad that
you bought the ingredients for? If you posted the results, I obviously
missed it, but am very curious about it.

Hi, Wayne. Yes, I did. I posted pics of the ingredients on abf and
posted about it here, but I never got around to photographing the results.

My family agreed with me on my assessment -- it's not really any sweeter
than the average grocery-store macaroni salad, which is usually a bit
too sweet for me, but it was definitely not inedible. And the dressing,
which seems like it would be way too much for that amount of macaroni,
all soaks in, so the salad isn't all goopy. Also, I do think the
dressing would make a decent fruit-salad dressing on its own, or the
base of poppyseed dressing, but I wouldn't bother because I like my
poppyseed dressing, and the one I make is easier.

James doesn't like macaroni salad at its best, so he just had that one
taste-tester bite, but the teenager and I ate it as a side dish for a
few days before we got tired of it. The recipe makes a TON of salad. I
think the container I kept it in is 10 1/2 cups.

Thanks, Serene. I did see your pics of the ingredients on abf, but guess I
missed your post here about the results. Sorry.

Your results are good to know. I would fully have expected it to be overly
sweet and overly "liquidy". I can see where in might make a good fruit
salad dressing, in that case.

I love poppy seed dressing, but have never made it myself. The recipes
I've seen didn't look all that appealing.

That's a *lot* of macaronia salad! Probably wise to cut it down, or take
it to a large gathering.

Mine is super-easy. Good mayo, honey, a splash of vinegar, enough milk
or water to thin it a bit, some poppyseeds. I like it a lot.

Nah, I probably wouldn't make it again. Just too sweet for me, though as
I said, not a ton sweeter than store-bought. I'm just not into sweet
macaroni salad.

Yes, it does sound super easy, and I think I'll give it a try. I like it
on a spinach salad that contains fruit.

Thanks!
