I know there are fans of this product so I thought I would pass on that
I saw the 8 qt. French oven on sale for $199 at my local CostCo. In your choice of red or blue! I went to see if CostCo is selling them online, but they aren't, so you will have to check your own CostCo in-house stock. --Lin |

I did buy it at the outlet for a bit under $199, if I recall? But I wouldn't question anyones purchase of a first quality one at that price or more. I got mine for $85 at a going-out-of-biz sale. If they'd made a knock off for $49, I'd have purchased it instead. Yes, some things do cost more and are worth it. OTOH, some things are just plain ol' rip-offs. nb |

So, how does it compare to Le Creuset? The list price of a Calphalon ECI piece seems about the same as a sale price of a similar Le Creuset. It seems they're taking straight aim at Le Creuset with this line. Is there a lifetime warranty? Steve |

I have two LeCreuset Dutch ovens, bought at semi-annual sales plus discount coupon at the outlet. We had received a Desco enameled Dutch oven as a wedding gift in the 60's and I loved it until the enamel wore off and it began to rust inside. I made do with my Farberware kettles for many years, then discovered LC and the sales. FWIW I have discovered that LC now sends the ~25% off coupons and sales announcements only to people who have purchased at the outlets during the year. The sales are usually in May/Mother's Day, and December/Christmas. gloria p |

I know they have regular sales in both July and December, but they have other special sales at other times. That is how I found that pot I mentioned. The only difference is the choice of colors and the logo. The $49 Calphalon on sale was only in burgundy while the high priced brand had at least six colors to choose from. You may also want to compare the Martha Stewart line at Macy's and Batali line at BB & Beyond. They look identical also, just different colors again. I'd guess they all come from the same factory in China. |

Hardly any manufacturer is immune these days to quality problems stemming from modern price pressures. Steve |

People (including me, I'm not pointing fingers) are always looking for the lowest price for everything, how many times has it come up how little food costs at the Asian market. If people want to stop buying goods made in China, they're going to have to put their money where their mouth is. nancy |

One must make a distinction between mainland China and Taiwan, as the product from the latter range from decent to very high quality. Many superior computer and electronic components are from companies based in Taiwan. nb |
