Besides, it really kinda depends on which way they face the platter when
they set it in front of you. Could be either one. :-/

Janet,

Cook a 12 oz. bag of extra-wide egg noodles in boiling salted water for
about 8 minutes. Drain well and in the meantime...

Mash 1 cup cottage cheese with 6 ounces of room temperature cream cheese
and 1 cup sour cream.

Mix this with the noodles and season with 1/4 teaspoon each of salt and
pepper.

Mix in lightly, 1/3 cup chopped scallions or chives.

Turn mixture into a generously buttered 2-quart (8"x8") baking dish.

Sprinkle with 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, dot with butter.

Bake in a moderate oven (350° F.) for 30 minutes.

As seen he http://i38.tinypic.com/sq3x9d.jpg

Enjoy!

Wayne,

A neighbor likened it to a Hungarian recipe from her family youth and
couldn't get over the dish. It probably wasn't 100% authentic but she stepped
back in family time during the meal which pleased me. You don't get any
better compliment than that! ))

Best,

Andy

Tee hee hee! <blush>

I put the recipe and your final picture of the cut goodness into my recipe
database - with your name fully credited, of course. This is a definite
must-do. :~)

If they were Hungarian Jews, its origin was probably a kugel.

Wayne,

I dunno! She was just cheerfully fat at the dinner table. I'll never forget
her! A favorite neighbor o' mine!

Best,
