Don't knock it until you've tried it. It's a Slovak dish, the cabbage is

It's a staple dish among Slovaks and other Eastern Europeans. In poor
times especially, that *was* the meal. The first time I tasted it when a
Slovak friend made it, I couldn't get enough. It's really tasty. I
actually prefer it made with spaetzle instead of noodles, but noodles are
the usual standard. If you're going to serve a meat along with it, it
should be pork or kielbasa.
