Wow I would have thought that we had come further in 2008 than to throw digs at someone because of their ethnicity. How horrible it must be to be that small minded that a person with more melanin in their skin is still not equal with the people who have a lack thereof. It is very sad that we as humans and Americans (where we live in the land of the free) cannot find our way to get past the looks of another to form an attack strategy. Many great people died to try and get this country to be color blind, I guess they died for nothing if this is the way we talk about people rather than discuss their merits. Why is it that people have to find fault in appearance rather than non accomplishments. Are we really that shallow as Americans. How about finding a way to have a relevant discussion point rather than attack points. That is what is wrong with politics today too much attack not enough stating of position. Did you all not notice that Palins speech was more of an attack venue than it was letting us get to know a woman who was little known until 3 weeks ago? It is sad that we have to reduce ourselves and that she reduced herself to kindergarten tactics. This was a great chance for her to truly introduce herself on to the national stage, we already know how the Repubs feel about the Dems what we needed to know was about this woman from Alaska. I for one was disappointed, as I waited for her speech to get to know her and all I got was putting others down. Oh and now to be even more disappointed by my fellow Americans that can not seem to grow up. No wonder our dollar is falling, no wonder we are being taken to the bank by the foreign oil caucus.. We have become childish Americans that throw a fit when we don't get our way. We tend to kick scream threaten and make fun of rather than take action to make this a better America and world. |

Any dislike I might hold for Oprah is because of her dopey attitudes and views. Also the fact she is full of herself. On the other hand Aunt Jimiah is a kind advertising symbol. I don't see that with any racial connotation at all. Obama is trading on his race to achieve a goal.....power. I happened to be on the African continent when Mugabe came to power. Like Obama he was "the one". The impact on blacks and whites in the at one time garden spot of Africa is mind boggling.Being a bit older and wiser I am less likely to accept the offering that BO is what he portends to be. Sadly, 90 plus percent of blacks are voting for him. They are looking for a savior and he will disappoint. As any black person on the streets of any city in Zimbabwe. He, like Mugabe, is driven by a quest for power. D Hale |

How come racism is OK when directed towards the white community by the black community and when directed by the black community AT the black community? Don't hand me this crap about it being OK for a black to call another black by the foulest of racial slurs. It doesn't amke using the term right at all! And it's OK for a black to be prejudiced against a korean or a latino or a white.... but not the other way around. It's OK to talk about Black pride and black heritage and latino heritage but it's racist to talk about white pride and Anglo heritage. Please explain this to me. And by the way, I agree with the gisdt of what has been said about Oprah.... she is not really a bigot though..... she's just in it for the money. She *IS* a Hypocrite though. |

Do you have an education or do you just pretend to? I Have a hard time believing that educated, well versed people can possibly be this stupid. It is absurd that people with an education can put other people down in the manner you have like a middle schooler. >> >> Many great people died to try and get this country to be color blind, >> I guess they died for nothing if this is the way we talk about people >> rather than discuss their merits. Most people of color actually behave better and with more respect for their fellow human beings than many of the whites I have met and come in contact with. It is disgusting how white people can just believe that they are entitled because they don't have a darker skin tone. haven't you ever heard we are all pink in the middle? IN fact we all bleed red. And given the right circumstances Colored people will accell further than Whites as they have no expectation that they are entitled to anything, the are already predisposed to the idea that they have to work for everything they get. > >> >> Are we really that shallow as Americans. >> How about finding a way to have a relevant discussion point rather >> than attack points. Honey she doestn have moral values, she has a podium she stands on to save face with the world but behind closed doors she is a Hypocrit. And liberals are not afraid of a strong woman who believes in God and has moral values. Lets not forget that Hillery is from the south. where we all like to call it the Bible belt, she attends church and has a relationship with God. Many of the other women on the Dem Ticket are also of the same caliber, they just do not put their religion in front like a televangelist so that they can gain from it. Just like Jesus said you should not prosper from your religion but it should be a light to show others how to live. YOu are to show others but not preach to others when you yourself do not have the fortitude to live your own words. Glass houses and all, you should not throw stones. Check yourself in the mirror to make sure that you can hold up under scrutiny before judging others. > >> It is sad that we have to reduce ourselves and that she reduced >> herself to kindergarten tactics. Hey how do you know that I am of New age Progressive lack of morals background? First of all there is nothing new age about me, I am not as progressive as you think and I have a deep sence of morals probably higher than you my friend. But the problem is that I am a VERY strong woman that believes in humanity as well as Virtuous values. I believe that our children are the most important people in our lives as they are the future of our world and we have to be able to provide wonderful children into the next generation. I also believe that I could never and would never have an abortion as for me it is wrong but I am not God and I have no right to tell anyone else they can not have one nor do I have the right to judge. I also believe that Women should be in the upper part of our government but they need to have their stuff in line at home before they take on something that can potentially harm or take away from their family. I also believe in civil liberty's for all humans, no matter who or what they are. every one is created equal under the eyes of God so why do I get the right to say they aren't? I also believe that life is too short to be mean, and there is so much to be done every day why would I go out of my way to attack demean and belittle someone else when I can just walk the other way if I don't like what they are doing, or have a civil conversation with them and get to know them. >> >> Oh and now to be even more disappointed by my fellow Americans that >> can not seem to grow up. >> No wonder our dollar is falling, no wonder we are being taken to the >> bank by the foreign oil caucus.. NEVER!!! as I am not voting for someone who thinks he is a hero for being shot down 20 hours into his first mission in a war that was useless, (wouldn't that be a survivor not a hero?) O with his definition I am a hero because I went through a 3 year battle with Breast cancer and the tortuous treatments that go with it. Oh and I am never voting for a woman that preaches one thing for the country but has things completely different for her own home. Abstinence only training in our schools? PHTTT!!! Maybe she should have taught that at home, no better yet maybe she should have been home when it mattered for her daughter. Oh and saying she is Christian but behaving very different from that. Abusing her power with her Brother In Laws boss, goes for the bridge to nowhere but then votes against it when it is convenient for her. Oh and the fact that she was preg when she married her own husband with her first child. I could go on and on but I wont, I bet that Sara Palin is a very wonderful woman to know but I dont think she is wonderful for our country in this time when we as Americans are at such a huge crossroads. But then it is people like you who will vote for her because of your prejudices. AND THAT IS SAD! >> |

Liberals support a woman's right to control her own body. They support anyone who wants to keep their baby. However, they also support a woman's right to prevent becoming pregnant in the first place and they support a woman's choice to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term or not. Liberals support a woman's right to choose, Conservatives do not. Palin also supports teaching "Intelligent Design" in public schools. Intelligent Design is the pseudo science that has man walking with the dinosaurs so their brand of evolutionary history will not conflict with stories of the bible.
