Default Sunday cooking

We had a nice brunch of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and freshly made
muffins.

Dinner is in the works. I hm cooking up a batch of pumpkin butternut
squash soup. I have a small chicken to do on the BBQ rotisserie. It has
been smeared with a mixture of pureed onion, garlic and cumin and will
be basted with melted butter.

My wife is making a plum clafoutti for dessert.

Have you tried smearing the puree under the skin as well as on top?

I made a large vat of chicken soup with matzoh balls, to get a head
start for next week (big dinner before and after Yom Kippur). The
chicken has been removed and tonight we are having chicken salad, made
with the addition of walnuts, grapes, and celery. Dressed with mayo
and a bit of curry powder. Roasted veggies (cauliflower, sprouts,
zucchini, onions, squash and cherry tomatoes) on the side. Home made
bread for sammies if anyone wants the salad that way.

Dessert is a dark chocolate cake with ganache frosting, the recipe for
which I got from the latest issue of Martha Stewart's Everyday Food.
The batter includes a half cup of Dutch process cocoa and 6 ounces of
bittersweet chocolate and the ganache takes another pound of
chocolate. I just got it frosted and have some extra ganache. I'll
make some truffles later on.

I never thought of that but it would probably be a good idea because the
schmear slides off. This is a pretty simple recipe, but it is
delicious. It works best on small chickens, so if feeding a bunch of
people it would need several birds.

Breakfast for us was Black Forrest bacon, fried eggs, raisin toast.

Dinner was braised ox tails, chanterelles, potato and salad.

Dessert was sour cream apple pie.
