Default "Fast-Food"

In certain food newsgroups, some posters are more than happy to berate
and ridicule people for eating the occasional burger from McDonalds or
Burger King or for enjoying a "fast-food" pizza from Pizza Hut. Yet the
same people are happy to declare that a "fast-food" Indian take-away
(I've eaten it myself before and, OK, it's good) from ASDA (Walmart) is
"lovely".

Why the double standards?

I have no doubt that the mass-produced curry, as tasty as it may be,
from ASDA (Walmart) has far more salt and sugar in it than any McD or BK
burger.

Food snobbery really does take some strange forms...

I have no complaints about fast food. It's mighty convenient while
out shopping to stop and get something at the food court. Some of the
fast food things are quite tasty, I doubt they're all that healthy,
but I'm not looking for health food when I stop at ________________
(fill in the blank), I'm looking for something to take the edge off my
hunger and stop my stomach from growling.

I have no arguments about fast-food either, and yet I can cook *very*
good home-made food (many say they've never had a better risotto for
example), but I have a distaste when those who should know better
trample and "food-snob" upon those people whilst doing the very same
thing themselves.

It's a fast-food, cooking, hypocrisy!

Default "Fast-Food"

I seldom go for 'fast food' mainly because I am seldom that far from my home
that I can't get there and fix something less expensively. When I am
stressed to the point I know I won't be able to stand and/or move around
enough to fix a meal, I will stop at the local oriental take out. That's no
more than 4-5 times a year.

McDonald's is also available - maybe once a year I go there.

There you go blowing things out of proportion again just to make a
sad little post.

Nobody gets berated for eating fast food occasionally.

Are you going to start a barrage of mindless crossposting again?

Hmm..the smoked horseradish mayo sounds good. Is that available
commercially? I might like to try that....

Woeber's. It doesn't appear on their website, but it's part of this

How many sockpuppoons does Steve have going THIS week....

We see "sw", "Corey Richardson", "DK", the usual Jerry + Jenny Sauks...

As for the Sauk "twins", is Steve simply "gender - konfused"...as they
say...???

I also think he's "Andy" on rec.food.cooking...Steve and "Andy" show a LOT
of "similarities", donchyaknow...

Horseradish mustard is my staple kind. I've never heard of smoked, either
-- sure sounds intriguing.

Think of it as a slightly stronger, less sweet Horsey Sauce(tm) with
some smoke flavor added. I usually poo-poo anything that's "smoke
flavored", but this stuff is quite decent.

<laughs> It does indeed!!!

I don't eat much fast food for multiple reasons, but I don't look down
on it. Never have, never will! There actually are a lot of healthy ones
if you shop around and are careful. The market demands it.

I'm sure I'd catch hell here if people knew I've been regularly using
"Egglands Best" for the Jelly loaf I make every weekend for dad. They
really are worth the price.

It's not snobbery. It's common sense.

We all have a McDonald's (which are getting smaller, I'm sure) sometime,
but this is what I deem as 'fast food' photographed at Milan's Central
Station last week. The staff were working flat out morning and
afternoon. My purchases were served in a nice crisp plain white paper
bags with lots of serviettes complete with a smile.

Look no kids!

And the food is far superior to anything the fast food places here in the US
serve. Even the sandwiches at the Autogrill are high quality or good bread.

I've never heard of it smoked either. We go through lots of
horseradish and wasabi mayo/sauce. Next time I make catfish po-boys I
think I'll do a little playing with the aioli mix. I think it would
be good with shrimp too.

I can't say it sounds good on a hot dog though.

Yikes. Greg off his rocker again with the mindless, ironic

Sounds like somebody didn't get ****ed last night. So it'll be a
