Default Restaurant Tipping

I will be going out to dinner with my parents, one parent having a
feeding tube and therefore unable to eat. Should I tip more to
compensate for the missing entree? The feeding tube is fairly recent,
and this will be our first time out. Haven't seen this topic before.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

I would tip as I normally would, based on the total of the bill and quality
of the service, that is, unless some special measures are required by the
restaurant or waitstaff. I am assuming that your parent with the feeding
tube will not be served anything at all?

What kind of people bring someone on a feeding tube to a restaurant,
sounds kinda morbid. There's gotta be a joke in there somewhere...
these three blind guys with tubes go to the braille titty bar...

Better yet, what sort of person shows up in a group and posts an absurd
question like that? ........... a troll.

Maybe, maybe not. It may be a traditional special occasion dinner that
they've done for years and want to continue, no matter that there is a
health problem. If a person is an amputee, do you only serve them foods
that can be eaten with one hand?

Tipping is for service. PERIOD! A smiling person who comes to the table
often and makes sure finished dishes and low water glasses and enough butter
situations are taken care of is an example. It's like you need something,
and they're already there doing it or asking if anyone needs anything.

Think of it like this: even if the parent isn't eating, isn't it important
that they have a steady flow of water and a smiley face experience like
everyone else?

How much is that worth? To me, I'd give a courteous sensitive server more
than someone who plopped the food on the table, and then had to go get them
if I want more water, bread, or butter.

A monkey could do those things. You tip for service.

If the waiter has the disabled parent's food blenderized and pours it into
the funnel, tip him double for that part.
