My mother used to do it all the time once she got to old to drive and had to have someone take her to grocery. She did leave space for expansion IIRC. Don't know about cream though. I have frozen hard cheeses at one point in the past. Didn't care for the texture after it was thawed. If I buy a large block of hard cheese nowadays I cut off a part for immediate use the vacuum seal the remainder and keep it in the fridge. No air gets to it so it doesn't spoil and still is good when I cut it again and repeat the process. never tried to freeze soft cheeses though. Supermarket is just a little way from home today and I just buy what I need for immediate use. |

So far, I haven't had the problem of milk separating after being frozen, at least some of the milk I got. I had a problem with one store brand and won't get milk from them again to freeze, but another store's brand does just fine. So I have been freezing their milk lately, when I find a good sale: like $1.99/gallon. Seems to defrost just fine, compared to the ugly texture of the other brand when it defrosted. Don't know why this should be so.... Christine |

Susan, It sounds to me like you need a good cookbook, most of the info you have asked for in your last two posts would be available in one- do you have Joy of Cooking? Betty Crocker? I |
