I was asked to help with my son's Halloween party at school next week,
and decided not to make cupcakes again. I thought I'd better try a test run so I'm not pulling my hair out Thursday night! Any of you ever seen pate a choux swans? I thought spiders would be fun, so I made my usual paste, substituting 1/4 cup of cocoa for the same amount of flour. I piped a bunch of wide "V"s for legs, and then heads & bodies for the spider- one blob connected to a bigger one. Made 8 or 9 & then I had an idea- poop! No shit! They look EXACTLY like little turd piles!!! Anyway, I'll cut off the backs of the spiders and fill them with orange or green pastry cream, and then poke the legs in the cream and put the backs on, and decorate. Not sure what I'll do with the shit piles, but it was a fun discovery!! |
