Dan, you prompted me to look more closely at Xnews. There is an option to
specify an external editor (most any will do). I plugged in MS Word which
has an extensive spellchecker and thesaurus.

Now when I click to reply or to create an original post, I’m transferred to
Word where I can create my post and take advantage of all the inherent
features. When I close word, it returns me to the basic posting entry screen
and includes a fully edited entry.

Works a treat! (I don’t know why I didn’t do this ages ago.)

Wow. That is SOOOO exciting!

At this revelation, shouldn't you two go down on each other while
eating a corned beef sandwich?

(Oops, Sorry Dan)

Great! I'm sure life will be easier. I learn a lot from newsgroups,
and not necessarily things that I would expect.
