Default Brownies Obama

Brownies Obama
http://bakedchicago.typepad.com

1/2 cup butter, plus more for pan
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
2 ounces dark chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 ounce semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
confectioners' sugar for dusting

Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Butter 8-inch square pan and line
bottom with parchment paper, leaving overhang on two sides. Butter
paper and set pan aside.

In medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. Set
aside. Place butter and choclates in large heatproof bowl set over
saucepan of simmering water. Heat until smooth, 2 to 3 minutes.
Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in sugars, eggs,
vanilla and flour mixture. Transfer batter to prepared baking pan
and smooth top.

Bake until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean,
approximately 30 to 35 minutes. Set pan on wire rack and let cool
completely. Using paper overhang, lift brownies onto cutting board
and cut into squares. Dust with confectioners' sugar after cutting
and serve.

Barack the vote today - and then bake Brownies Obama to celebrate the
election of our 44th president!

He won. Get over it.

No shitty attitudes are going to change that now.

I was pretty much neutral over the whole thing when all was said and
done. I had some good friends send me lots of educational stuff via
private e-mail on both sides since I'm a non-partisan voter.

It actually made it harder to make a decision. <g>

I don't have a problem with the brownie recipe or Obama's victory. But in
order for the brownies to be *truly* "Obama" shouldn't they be half-white?

A better suggestion than mine, and it'd be good. Brownies with chocolate
chips are always rich and delicious.
