Default Noodleless chicken soup

It was supposed to be chicken noodle soup.

Assembled all the ingredients.
http://i37.tinypic.com/1z5p7wk.jpg

Sifted the flour, trying to keep it on the board.
http://i36.tinypic.com/f4lgud.jpg

Oh boy, can't wait for homemade noodles.
Oh dang, what the hail is that?
http://i33.tinypic.com/5wdl6o.jpg

It was good but I missed my noodles. :-(
http://i34.tinypic.com/vpi9gm.jpg

Going grocery shopping today. Guess what's first on the list. ;-)

Don't ya just hate it when that happens? Keep a box of Matzah Meal in
the cupboard (sealed in a Ziplock), Matzah balls faster and easier
than noodles. But homemade noodles are sooooooooooooooooooo good.

Yes, it's very aggravating when it happens. I've had the flour on hand
for a while so I shouldn't have been surprised.
I have the Matzah Meal on hand http://tinyurl.com/5moeqo
The link is to my blog and the Matzah ball soup I made. But I wanted
noodles. And by gosh, I'll have them yet. lol

Probably has a lot to do with dank kitchen clutter... why did we need
to see this... you coulda just told us, I would have had no doubts.

> It was good but I missed my noodles. :-(http://i34.tinypic.com/vpi9gm.jpg

Noodles don't belong in chunky chicken soup... in that soup maybe a
small bit of pasta, orzo would work, plain rice would work. For
chicken soup that's an odd color, looks like grey water... and I can
tell those are carrots, but what are all those diaphanous looking
things floating in there, not very appetizing, looks like used
condoms?

Looks good even without the noodles. I'd have subbed some crackers.
We've usually got some around.

I'm guessing you didn't have any matzo meal on hand.

I'm sure it was tasty, but you can add RICE to almost anything to complete
the starch balance.

Hard to believe ANYONE runs out of rice! (Unless ya buy it in the Uncle
Ben's box for occasional use).

A couple-three pieces over cooked celery but the rest looks like
flutters of over soaked TP... and I've not seen chicken soup the color
of water from rinsed baby nappies.
Doesn't look like any chicken soup I've ever seen.

My stepmom used to make homemade chicken soup, with the major
ingredients being broth, diced chicken, a little sauteed onion, a
little diced carrot, and instead of noodles she put in at the very end
frozen beef raviolis, and it was delicious. I guess you could also
use something like tortellini also.

Yeah, in a soup like that, I would think tortellini would be great! I'm
going to have to try that; thanks for the idea, Michael.

Thanks Lou. It was very good.
I should have thought of the crackers. I love saltines crumbled in
soup. <hitting forehead>

My SIL turned me on to using those dried tortellini you find in boxes
for soup. It can be a staple in the house, if you don't mind that
sort of thing. Personally, making pasta isn't very high on my list of
things I enjoy making or even want to make so it works for me.

Frozen ravioli has it's uses...
Especially the 5 cheese ones sold around here. I indulge in them once
or twice per year. ;-d

Beef ravioli in chicken soup, you're kidding... then why not cheese
ravioli in clam chowder.

I was thinking along the lines of cheese & spinach tortellini for a chicken
soup like Michael mentioned. I think that might be really good. I think
our local supermarket carries Buitoni refrigerated tortellini.
