Default Sauce for Mackerel in Brine

Someone in our family is very partial to tinned Mackerel in Brine. Since
others have to eat some at the same time, is there a very simple way that
one might vary this fish with a very *simple* and 'suitable for a novice'
easy to prepare ' Sauce' to go with it , please?

Simple tomato sauce with basil. Drain the brine off and rinse the mackerel
first.

When you say tomatoe sauce, do you mean ketchup? The problem funnily enough
with tomatoe sauce, is that you can also buy tinned mackerel here in the
U.K., which is in tomatoe sauce already as an alternative; so thats an
option we already have had rather a lot of. Any other suggestions
appreciated.

Ketchup? Lord no! I mean cooked tomato sauce with basil, onion, garlic,
the sort that might be acquired in Italy. Come to think of it, mackerel in
tomato sauce is also Spanish thing. Sorry, I don't have any other
suggestions!

Do a google for Anchovy and Caper Sauce. There's lots of hits.
Here's the first one.
