Flying out of a non-major airport would add a leg to the trip and
always cost me more. That's the way it worked when I lived in
Greenvile, SC. If I could get to Atlanta I could save $120-$150.

I spent a fortune on airfare those years.

I was referring to the hormones of the hunter, not the huntee. A
wild turkey shot with a shotgun was a product of hormones.

Huh. I must've looked at the wrong site -- I was looking at the Denver
area stores. :-/

Same for the stores in my areas (Southern NJ). Its always been the deal
where you spend some $X and you get a free turkey.

Is three a good enough qualification? I could probably enhance
that to four because I would always join my Sainted Mother(tm)
on our Gemco stock-runs and her idea of fun was to throw mental
math problems at Little Brother and me throughout each shopping
trip. I was one of the few kids in our neighborhood that knew
how to price food per pound and count change.

I must've missed that praise of Consentino's.

A lot of sheeple still don't get it yet. Listen as they loudly
complain about Safeway's newest extortion practices...

No need to bring friend or go every day, just check out, unload the cart
into the truck and go back for another round. Of course you need a lot
of freezer space to make this worthwhile.

If you "just" looked it up on Wednesday, 11/19, then you
probably saw the current ad, but OP was looking at last
week's ad - now expired.

I compared the print versions of Safeway's current and
previous ads for my area (Northern CA). The current ad includes the
$25 minimum purchase requirement. The
ad from last week doesn't.

It's an ideal way to buy a lot of turkey for a soup kitchen or shelter. I
used to be able to do at least one every year at some rificulous price and
take it to them after Tday or after Christmas when they aren't getting so
much stuff.

The key word being "newest". At one time, Safeway was the leader in
"everyman" shopping. They built a super-store in San Ramon over 30 yrs ago.
It was a failure, but it pioneered and completely changed the whole concept
of supermarkets as we know them now. It had video rental, gourmet counters
($250 oz caviar!), food courts, wine, deli, bakery, fish counter, etc, all
the things we take for granted, now.

Safeway had great deals AND prices. I used to buy fresh ground beef that
was 15% soy protein. Couldn't taste the difference and was dirt cheap.
They were the first to start selling specialty beers. I could buy a
sixer of Ballantine Ale nowhere else. I learned about cheeses I'd never
heard of. I became addicted to what they called havarti tilsit, more
correctly, tilsit, a limburger style cheese that was awesome with the ale.
They had sales that rivaled any other chain in the area. At one time,
Safeway rocked. Unfortunately, about 15 yrs ago, they turned to the
darkside. No problem. Plenty of other stores to take their place.

This was the location for notbob, and those are the Denver area ads.
At least that is what it says.

That's a variety of bait and switch, isn't it? Might be worth having a
chat with the Better Business Bureau or similar.

Heh! I see it now. I was looking at (and enlarging) the Denver
Thanksgiving part of the page. No mention of the minimum purchase
there. Da bums.
