Some of you may have noticed my uncommon actions during the last day
or so. Although I am NOT apologizing for it in anyway, I want you to
emphasize with me.
I know most of you who will never know what it is like to have been a
soldier, but when I was in the special forces I was trained to
withstand lack of sleep for up to seventy-two hours. However now I can
only go for about half that amount. As for my being an excellent cook,
I learn to cook in the army for over one hundred men. So it easy for
me now to whip up a delectable dish for my SO.
And contrary to what most of you might think, not that you are capable
of any thought, my SO enjoys working and coming home to an excellent
meal cooked by myself.
I realise that you all are jealous of my life style but I Stress that
I DO NOT have to work and will never have to work again. So stick that
in your pipe and smoke it.
And, as you will never understand what I have suffered during my life,
I do not expect any sympathy. And to all the stakers....**** OFF
****S!

I have never been a soldier, so I really cannot relate to what being a
soldier is like, although I can imagine it is very difficult if one is on
active duty, especially during times of war.

I don’t have a problem with that.

I am not jealous of your life style, so I don’t have a problem with that
either. More power to you. I had planned on an early retirement, but my
life savings was wiped out, so I will probably work until I can no longer
work. I used to resent that, but not any longer. I like my job and the
people I work with.

What have you suffered during your life? Almost everyone has suffered
something if they’ve lived long enough, and most try to work past it.

I was 33 when I did....... which was good in a way, I stayed very active
the whole time.

I saw a lot of my mates retire, then die within a couple of years
because they just didn't know what to do with themselves.

We're very lucky in that we've been DINK's for about 3 years.

Once the kids were told to stand on their own feet and were out of our
hair (financially), we're sitting pretty :-)

(Damn!! If only we'd gotten rid of them earlier!!)

As for medals........ the last two that the Aust Military sent me, it
took 33 years for one to come through, and about 5 years for the other.

They gave me a choice for the presentation....... a big ceremony with
politicians handing out the gongs, or get it sent through the mail.

I chose the mail :-)

Then chucked them in the drawer with the rest of them.

Although David was married before and has three children, we’ve always been
DINK’s since we’ve been together the past 16 years. We both have pretty
secure employment given what security one might expect these days; however,
we both work for not-for-profit organizations which are not known for pay
scales equal to comparable jobs in the corporate world.
