My husband wanted me to pass along his compliments on the Italian Beef
recipe you posted some time ago. He's been looking for things to make in the
slow cooker while he's at work, so I sent your post to him. He said it was
spectacular

My DS actually invested in a slow cooker - so I no longer have to 'um
and ah' about getting one - I can use his <veg>. Think the time has
come to try this...

BTW, glad to see you here again - sorry about the move and all that jazz
tho'.

Thanks. I'm having fun! Will be busy moving soon, though, and not
sure about cable access for awhile, but I'll keep on keepin' on, and
will be back when I can. I think I can keep y'all company for another
week, anyway.

Thank you. Happy holidays to you, too, Maxine. Looks like we're
keeping cable access, so you guys will be stuck with me this month
when I'm not packing.

Same town, just a mile or so away. Our landlord is losing this
building to foreclosure, so he's moving us to a vacancy he has in
another duplex. Better than hitting the streets! And we'll have a
lot more space in the new place. The house is really, really old, so
there is a lot of weirdness we're going to have to either fix or just
deal with, but we think we'll like it there.

Have a happy move, Carol. Home is what you make it. Do you still have
others besides Crash living wtih you? Will they be moving there too?

Thanks, Wayne. The brothers who were staying with us are gone. We
have our soon to be ex-SIL living with us indefinitely. We love him,
he loves us, and we all get along. We call him our son. He's been
with us since Crash's daughter threw him out when we were visiting
last Christmas Eve. Lovely girl.

That sounds like perfect arrangement, Carol! I'm sorry about Crash's

LOL! We're just moving a mile or so from our current place.
Landlord's losing this building to foreclosure, so off we go to one of
his other holdings. Hopefully, we'll be able to stay put for a few
years.

Oops! I read posts straight down the line. I'm not sure how old the
house is. Let's see ... really high ceilings, large pantry with a
potato bin, cracked and bulging plaster walls, beautiful woodwork
that's been cruely painted over in weird colors, a tornado shelter
instead of a basement, boiler heating, clawfoot bathtub. I wouldn't
PURCHASE the place, but this landlord will allow us to keep our seven
critters. No one else will. The neighborhood sucks, but it's still
better than the same neighborhood would be in St. Paul. We don't have
gunfire here. And ... we won't be near any working train tracks for
the first time since moving down here over 5 years ago. Whoo-hoo!

Oh, she's okay, as long as it doesn't concern"our son. I just thought
it was particularly cruel to throw him out on Christmas Eve. They
have a 2-1/2 year old son. :-(

Pantry!!!!! That's a wonderful thing to have. You already know
one gets used to various places. I once lived in a very dark and
unappealing rent-controlled apartment....

Hey Carol, don't know this helps but...

In the state of CA (might be different in your state), a tenant does
not have to leave just because the owner loses the property to
foreclosure. Normally, the bank takes it back and their REO department
takes over until the property can be sold to a new owner. You would
then pay normal rent to the REP dept until final disposition and
sale of the property, at which point the new owner becomes
the landlord.

If you're on a month-to-month tenancy the bank or new owner
can theoretically serve you 30 day notice, but in the current
environment they will likely be very happy to stay with
an existing good tenant, i.e. you. Just a thought.

In any case, good luck with it all.

Thank you, Reg. Well, we're going to go ahead and move. A couple
reasons.

We'll have more space, and we'll have a bedroom with a door! Right
now, our king size bed and the dressser, etc. are in the living room.
Our computer room is off the living room. Everyone and their dog uses
our computers, so our bedroom is like Grand Central Station. I won't
miss that part of living here at all.

The other issue is our herd of animals. This is the only landlord in
town who will let us keep all of our children. If someone else takes
over the property, we would likely be asked to leave. At least this
way, we know we have a place to go.

Our dogs are so attached and used to being with us 24/7, they fall to
pieces if we just go to the store. I don't think they could survive a
separation. The dogs and cats come first for now. When they've
passed, we can do what's better for us.

The new place isn't so bad, it's just moving in the dead of a
Minnesota winter.

Thanks so much,
Carol
