Love it! I'm sending it to my friend who moved to Aus two years ago.

What's the truck called? A rusty "what"?

It's a ute, short for utility vehicle. We've been here for almost
four months and I'm just now figuring out the lingo. Seems
everything is shortened. Air Con = Air Conditioner, Chrissy =
Christmas, Brekky = Breakfast. I can't think of anymore just now but
you get the idea.

You're welcome.

I think I spent the first two months saying Hunh? or What? with a
puzzeled look on my face while trying to have a conversation with the
locals.

I will never forget meeting my boss' Mom and Pop in Adelaide, SA. Mom took
a glance at us American birdbrains and asked "a whiskey and a beer?" She
adored us intensely! Just about adopted us during our stay.

We felt we had finally (for a change) arrived at the right spot on the
planet!!!

"Mom" cooked for us just about non-stop the whole time. Cooked us our first
grey kangaroo steak dinner! She personally got Queen Elizabeth to come to
Adelaide for a ceremony. I forget what about. Pop was the Australia
barrister (retired).

Boss' sis and husband grew almonds, wine and marijuana (legal). Rolled me one
that lasted a week!!!

Boss is back in Canberra, NSW. "Canberra, why wait to die!"

Not sure I'll get it all written in perfect 'Stralian, but I'll give
it my best. Most certainly I'll confuse the hell out of 'em!

A boy sitting on Peter Lucas's lap and Peter Lucas puts his finger on
the boys nose and says "I bet your name is (he spells out ) J i m m
y ?"

The little boys eyes light up and Santa puts his finger on the boys
nose again and says " I bet you want a (he spells out ) b i k e ?"

Little Jimmys eyes light up and he asks "How'd you know that ?"

Peter Lucas's replied "Because I'm a soldier I know everything".

Little Jimmy gets a funny look in his eye and says "I bet you like
(spells out ) d o g s ?"

Peter Lucas's says "Yes, how'd you know that ?"

The boy says " because your finger smells like your wife's **** !"

Ha! Thanks Rhonda.

Once I got use to the short cuts, I found it easier to converse with
the locals. I appreciate your additions. Some I forgot to add are...

Cuppa – Cup of tea
Chook – Chicken
Pen – The space between two pontoons (we call docks) It's a sailor
thing, never mind.
