Default Christmas baking is done

That's it. No more. I made light fruitcake a few weeks ago. Over the
last week I have made a batch of brownies, a batch of date squares, 6
dozen small mince meat tarts, a batch of Scottish short bread and 4
dozen regular shortbread cookies. If that doesn't get us through the
holidays I will have to go on a diet anyway.

I should make Mom's shortbreads, but I still don't have a working oven.
I'm not sure the table top roaster will work for cookies, altho' the one
biscuit "test" I originally did in it turned out well. Nice brown crusty
tops.

Sounds good. I'm almost done here. I was going to spread it out over
the week but we're having guests Sunday night so I want the cookies done
before then. I've done the Bailey's balls, Viennese coffee balls,
Peanut butter blossoms, peanut butter and jelly thumbprints, mint
chocolate crackles (someone posted this rec or something similar last
week) and cherry coconut macaroons. I still have the chocolate candy
cane cookies, eggnog snickerdoodles and chocolate covered cherry cookies
to go.

I am felling self righteous. I am ready. The baking is done, tree is up
and decorated, presents are all bought and wrapped, groceries are in
and the house cleaned up. All we have to do is keep it clean (good luck
there) and pick up the fresh turkey on the 24th. Okay, I have to make
the cranberry sauce, but that only takes 5 minutes.

As well you should!

You are far too organized (IMHO). ;-)

I have got as far as acquiring a duck <frozen, so sue me>. The turkey
and a ham is on the list, never mind the 'sides'... However, we have
several butternuts in the garden that are ripe for the picking. Guess
that will be on the menu too.

Anyway, tomorrow has been declared "ChristmasGroceryShoppingDay". Wish
me luck.
