Hi All,

Thanks for many good tips and responses.

I may check in here some more but I may not have time for a while.

There seems to be a core of you that like cooking and sharing ideas,
but playing nice.

Someone might want to think about opening your own cooking group,
except with a moderator. I don't have that much experience in cooking
or websites, or discussion boards.

I think the yahoo.groups are a little quicker to get through the
messages. and sort though. Sorry if I missed out on any good comments
or questions here.

I leave you all with a christmas gift, sort of. If you like opera, its
der Engle from wagner, song by Bocelli.

Still interested in any additional recipies that someone has tried and
had good results with, including for potato dumplings, pork, would
like to eventually try a strudel recipe

I have gmail email but I noticed if I try to write my email address
the website blocks it.

I have seen maybe 5 posters ignoring all the shit Lucas has brought in here
and those 5 are "playing" nice. Unfortunately it is no "playing nice" when
Usenet intrudes upon "real life". Lucas intrudes on people's "real life"
and wreaks havoc everywhere on Usenet that he lands. I have also notice
people that would probably be very nice netizens become quite ugly.

I think that would be the perfect solution.

Hi, yahoo groups can be good. One can read and send messages using normal
email programs for those who prefer that to using web pages. It could be a
good idea even though there are already hundreds of food yahoo groups
already.

Merry Christmas everyone

See ya. Not. There is a moderated group, r.f.r. No discussion, just
recipes. The tides of swill come and go, according to school
schedules, in case you hadn't noticed. And Peter Lucas isn't at fault
for any of it - a poseur is doing damage in his name.

Oh, and FYI - this is NOT a discussion board, whatever that is. This
is a Usenet group.

It's getting to the moderator question, with the ratio of spams and rate of
trolling. The problem is the moderator. That dictates the NG direction too
much, I think. I have now and then learned tips from the veteran trollers
here. It's the non cooking spam that seems much worse than it used to be.
Maybe we could have a Board of Directors. We could include one troller. We
could establish specific rules for flaming!

Yeah, sure, go for it.

Every so often someone complains and says the non-topic spam is worse
than usual, or the ordinary spam is worse than usual, or what's up
with the trolls lately? Nothing is better or worse than it always has
been - these posts, for instance, are totally off-topic. As far as I
know, nobody who's been around here, lurking and posting, for a decade
or so is interested in a moderator, and such a proposal would never
pass the votes (required in a rec.* group), so those of you who think
it's a necessity, just go off and make your own exclusive group, which
will make everyone happy.

And, for the record, the only acceptable rules for flaming are "Don't
set the house on fire."

Heh. Either you're new here or you've been gone a very, very, very long
time. We have at least five (wannabe) moderators - they usually take
turns, but if they deem it necessary they descend upon us 'en masse',
waving their wooden spoons and dishing out discipline.

> Maybe we could have a Board of Directors.

We already do, except they're affectionately known as the RFC Cabal
(TINC).

Which reminds me, have you paid your annual membership fees to the Cabal
(TINC) Chairperson yet? I've heard rumors that cash is acceptable.

You *must* indeed be new here. We already have at least three (or maybe
4) resident trolls who are members of the Cabal (TINC).

> We could establish specific rules for flaming!

Got that too. Of course it depends which (wannabe) moderator is on duty;
they each have their own set of rules.

To sit in the front of the SF Opera House and listen to Wagner's Ring is a
life awakening experience few are privileged to have. You certainly have
found your place, and belong in Fargo!

Even a very, very, very long time ago, we saw the annual Let's Tidy Up
This Untidy Lot threads, usually started by newbies or cross-posters.
I've been posting here since the mid-90s and RFC is what it is. The
Hall Monitors' Brigade can make their ineffectual marches until the
cows come home (thereby being OB) and RFC and its denizens do what
they usually do: have a laugh and go on or, as we used to say,
ROTFLGMBASTC.
