Jerry Sauk of alt.food.fast-food would tear you up for not knowing
what a Taco Supreme was.

No fair! Kili ate hers in the car!

Looks like you'll have to go back for dinner! ;-)

I've heard his name. <G> I get sick, very sick, every time I eat at
Taco Bell. I should get some good reading material in the bathroom in
preparation.

Oddest thing last night... I'd been thinking about Christy and Allan
yesterday and dreading another message from the CaringBridge (although I so
much appreciated Michael keeping us up to date). Out of the blue I decided
to prepare tacos and refried beans for dinner.

I am clueless, sorry. When Hawaiians put a pig in the ground and
that's what Kalua pig is- they cook it for 10 hours on hot rocks upon
which they have laid lots of wet leaves- banana and ti leaves- and
then dirt over the leaves which are around the pig (loosely think
"sandwiched"), so it steams. When you get it out of the ground, it
falls apart and that's what the slow cooker recipe above, recreates so
well.

But it is SO easy and SO good. Quite unbelievable and authentic
tasting as well. Good luck.

I thought you were going to say ".. every time I hear that name.".
I got sick last time I ate at Taco Bell, too. Didn't eat for 2 days
after that.

That's too bad. The one here is actually very good. The only thing I eat
from there most of the time tho' are the crispy tacos.

Those damned things are addicting...

Been months since I've had one tho'. I'm trying seriously to lose
weight. Pain is a good incentive. <g>

Hm. Guess I could experiment and see. My roaster is more versatile than
an oven. I'd probably try 275.

I just finished a batch of stuff at 325. Ham, baby bok choy, carrots and
yams. Everything is perfect after 4 hours... The roaster was quite full
so it took a bit longer than anticipated.

Taco Bell also makes one of my children sick, and it does it every time.
Who knows what causes that. I've eaten at some seedy looking places,
and I never get sick. I bought tacos al pastor that were being sold out
of the trunk of a car in Mexico, and I did not get sick. I'm either
lucky or I have a cast iron stomach.

Sick meaning what? Fever? If what goes in one end, comes out the
other end quickly - I'd venture to say the fat content is too high for
that particular body. I had a similar experience with a toasted (not
even "grilled") cheese sandwich last week. Whoosh!

Well, the current debate in the "Sekret Society of A.F.F-F" is whether Jerry
Sauk is a drug-addled alcoholic or an idiot savant. Most members are
leaning towards the alcoholic theory, as Jerry has yet to exhibit any savant
behavior. BTW, it has been noted that your dues are in arrears to the
SSAFFF. Please forward immediately. PayPal is accepted. (Hope this helps,

You got it, he gets diarrhea every time he eats at Taco Bell. He only
orders taco's. He is the one who is a picky eater.

After the holidays, I need a weight loss plan. I probably ate 1/2 a
fruitcake, in addition to divinity, fudge and cookies. I made the
fruitcake, but my mother and my sister made the rest. I only ate it so I
wouldn't hurt their feelings.

It's probably the fat in that taco shell. Is Taco Bell the one that
makes Mexican Pizzas? I used to like those a lot.

When still in college, my son (who already knew how to cook) called
for my grandmother's pie crust recipe, which is made with lard. He
was eating low fat meals (lots of Ramen) at the time, so you can
imagine what the pie did to him. He suffered for a couple of days.

There's probably a lot that you don't know. Nobody cares if you're here

One package of Top Ramen is 13g of fat, half of it saturated fat. It
has been fried in palm oil to get rid of the moisture.

One Taco Bell regular taco has 10g of fat, 3.5g of which is saturated.

Maybe animal fat is "greasier". I only know is he was a virtual
vegetarian... very little meat involved. He ate a lot of vegetables
and salad too.

Om, Here's how I did it in my roaster when I asked kili for help

I think I'll make it again when I get back home. I just can't stop
thinking about her.

Here's one of the filets that I baked with lemon pepper and butter:

My memory of mahi-mahi is that it comes in steaks, like halibut. Am I
off-base, or did we just eat a baby fish?

The fillet that you got could have been cut from near the tail where it gets
narrow.

Thanks, Bob. It was still delicious, but I was kinda disappointed
when I opened the package and saw skin-on tails instead of steaks. I
just assumed ... naive, I know.

I don't know, but we just had Mahi-Mahi and chips for lunch.

Mine and the BIL's was done in a beer batter, and the SO's was done in
Panko.

Rather thickish, squareish, chunky, fillets.

Maybe you had a baby??

Ok, 350 computes. :-) I guess the time will vary with the weight of
the roast. Thanks!

I've cried several times over the last couple of days.
I truly regret that I never got to meet her in person, but she was
always a very dear person on the list, and by private e-mail.
