Menudo = tripe, right? I'll eat it, as long as it doesn't contain too
many chilies. (Long story, won't bore you with it).

Well, at least it should be spicy...

The predicted and imagined impending demise of Usenet is only upsetting
those who have no other life than here. All other life will proceed at a
normal rate. The Usenet obsessed will flood psychiatrist offices and bring
the country out of the recession. People who actually do cook and don't
spend more time on computers rather than cooking will not be affected.

I didn't read/participate much a couple weeks earlier this month for a
couple weeks.

Every time I come back I realize it's even more pathetic than I thought
when I left.

But I'm a die-hard usenetter, administering servers and participating
when it was all run over UUCP and stored in local spooldirs. I kinda
wanna stick around and see it crash and burn. And I have a bag of
marshmallows and a pointy stick, too.

RFC is like a sewer
What you get out of it depends on what you put into it.

And probably living on yummy leftovers. <g>

Here is Ham, rice dressing (that I just added eggs and peas to at dad's
request), sweet potatoes, roasted carrots and baby bok choy.

There are also some sweets from my sister in the 'frige including a
small loaf of zucchini bread I've not tried yet.

The Internet reports a spike in liquor sales, particularly "cooking" sherry,
which is up 1,012% vs. vodka which is only up 568%.

Crap, man. He was old by then. I still vividly remember The Graduate
........

"Why, Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me. Aren't you?"

60 isn't "old". I just returned from Kauai where I snorkeled four times for
four hours each time in the surf. And that's with a 5 way bypass, plastic
aortic valve, and I broke my back last July 4th. Old is an attitude.

Steve should remember that old biblical admonition: "And the lion shall lay
down with the lamb..."

;-P

Actually I've noticed that Steve has "settled down" as of late and is not
using all those sock puppets of his...

And in any case Andy is hardly a "problem" compared with some of the
contretemps stirred up here lately by some of the Antipodean trolls, etc....

And yours are seriously disingenuous... at least Andy is genuine...
Andy contributes good natured character and humor, Duh'Weenie (like
the sqwartz) contributes only nastiness and insincerity.
---------------------

GM replies:

Yup, and Andy isn't over - weening and unctuous and slopping over with sugar
(or in this case saccharine) like Wayne is...he isn't a pussy - mouthed
whiner like Wayne is, either. And Andy doesn't engage in that odious panty -
waisted 'weak sister' two - faced typically sissy behavior that was passe
even when _Tea and Sympathy_ was new on Broadway...

The fact of even knowing that Wayne is smarming about here makes my skin
postively crawl, like it's covered with a BILLION burrowing and biting
cooties...Andy's presence does *not*.

[And the fact that Andy gets under Steve's martinet skin makes me laff in
any case...]

I'm SURE I can think of many more good things to say about Andy as opposed
to Wayne, just give me a second or two...I WON'T hold back!

;-P

Generally this columnist has annoyed me in the past with her recipes,
where she could be teaching people to cook more from scratch and still
quickly.
I've got these ham balls in the oven now. The only modifications I made
was to use one whole jalapeño pepper (they've gotten so wimpy,
y'know?)instead of the half the recipe called for, and to add a little
finely minced onion to the meat. I used ground pork with the ground ham.
I'll let you know how they turn out.

No he hasn't. Your hide is thicker.

The demise of usenet will come not from within. It will come because
of ISPs dropping it and the advent of online forums that are easier
for the uninitiated to find.

As usual you're spewing garbage. The demise in quality is largely
because of google idiots. As ISP's drop usenet or binaries serious
users will just have to pay for it or resort to google. For once I
agree with cyberloon as usenet isn't going away any time soon.

....but so many are moderated. I would rather deal with using filters and
otherwise ignoring garbage than have a group like this moderated.
Takes out all the fun.

And let you have all the limelight? Hardly. We need to spread the
wealth amongst everyone.

Huh? There's no rhyme or reason to that. But that's not unusual
coming from you.
