I understand... ;-)

They are richly flavored by then.
I don't eat bananas often tho'.

It's that low carb thing.<sigh>
I still have a lot of weight to lose so avoid sugar, including fresh
fruit for the most part. :-(

I ate one banana yesterday I think (or the day before). First one I'd
had in at least a year. The smell of them got to me.

Default Price of Bananas?

39¢ per pound every day at Kwik-Trip (local convenience store.) Used to
be 29¢ but they went up a few months ago.

If only! Here in Pittsburgh limes have been .$89 each lately.
Lemons a little less - $.69 each

..79 (went up .89 for while when gas prices were going up) in my part
of CA. Pathetic but I didn't eat that thing that much due to
calories. if I have children, that'd be another story. Children
shoud eat banana all the time as they are yummy

At least until you get your electric bill, when you find out that the
temperatures that make your citrus happy, don't work for your household!

Actually, Dan, our overall combined costs of heating and cooling is less
here in AZ than it was in OH. It was a surprise to us after the first year
and we averaged the costs.

Here in Albuquerque they have been either 10/$1 or $0.69/pound,
depending on the store. This week, they were 10/$1 at John Brooks
Supermarket. I got 20 lemons, since I use a lot of lemons.

Last week, at the mexican megamart, they were $0.69/pound.

Utilities are cheap here in LA, our highest electricity bill was $175.

Wow! I have National Grid. Highest bill I ever had was $90 - that's in the
winter with the furnace running - and an electric hot water heater.

Just wanted to gloat a bit. <VBG>

Lemons are 2lbs/$0.99 this week at the local Mexican megamart.

Guess I will be stopping by there in the morning on the way home from

Lemons were $1.99 for a bag with about a dozen this week, and limes were
5 for $1.00.

;-)

I really need to get some and zest them, then juice and freeze the juice
in lemon cubes...

Mine in the back yard aren't quite ripe yet.

So I bought a bag of organic ones for $5. It was a big bag too. Roasted

Yeah, when I lived in Calif. we had a lemon tree in the back
yard. I don't think I ever bought a lemon in 13 years! I sure
hated it when I moved back to Pittsburgh! I never had a lemon
when I need one. I hate having to go to the store for a lemon!
Limes, however I still had to buy at the store but they were cheap.

Well, that only applies to those who have air conditioning.
I lived in Inglewood, CA, for 13 years without it and lived
to tell about it. ;-)

You should have gotten to John Brooks last week...I got 20 lemons for
$2.

The ones at Ranch Market today were good sized. Piles and piles of
them.

Don't you have anything better to do than make me feel bad LOL. We
rarely shop at John Brooks. Not for any particular reason. Just isn't on

Sorry about that..

I usually swing by there only if I see something on sale, that I want.
Like during the holidays: they had Gold Medal flour on sale, 2
bags/$3, with each bag being 5 pounds. I stocked up.

I think during that same period, they had an incredible sale on spare
ribs: something like $1.59/pound. Maybe less. I got some.

However, it is pretty much on a circular path if I want something.
This morning, I swung over to Ranch market (from work), then came home
via Sunflower, then Talin.. If I had wanted anything from
JohnBrooks, it would have been pretty easy to go there in terms of my
path. However, this week, there isn't thing that I really need.
Plus, I am mostly sticking to buying veggies these days. My freezers
are loaded with poultry and meats bought on sale.

I could probably make you feel even worse, Arri. We're expecting our first
frost tonight. When I got home from work I picked 2-1/2 dozen ripe lemons
and nearly 30 ripe limes from our trees in the back yard. Even better than
going to the store. :-)

Shuddup Wayne! LOL!

It was indeed nice living in San Diego and having a regular supply (via
friends) of fresh citrus. Had I been able to afford a house there, would
certainly have bought one with either citrus or avocado trees in the
garden.

I love having the citrus, but I would also love having the avocados. I

Citrus and fruit trees don't take that long to fruit! You can buy
lemons in a 5 (maybe 10) gallon pot with fruit on it already. Apples
take maybe a year. It's not that long. Go for it! All you need is
water.
