Default have too many blueberries any unique recipes or ideas

These freezers are turning into something akin to Alladin's cave !

Have spoken very severely to SWMBO about keeping freezers in order
she just said they ARE in order
response Disorder then went back to unpacking and re stowing

Problem with having 6 freezers 5 of them bought at clearing sales
one can't give up a bargain eh .

Your question is what exactly?
I love blueberries, can't get enough of 'em.
I normally eat them with yoghurt... otheriwse you could look at making
pies, danish, or similar.

Dry them- they'll take up less space or soak in vodka or brandy for a
nice apertif or make blueberry jam or blueberry vinegar...

I thought my dad was a little nuts because he had two 25 cu.ft. freezers
and a basement full of both home canned and commercially canned food.
Probably enough food to live on for at least years.

Now I know two, or would that be three including SWMBO? Hoarding is an
obsessive compulsive disorder. Get help.

My 18 cu.ft. upright freezer never needs repacking. I always know what's
in it and where it is. That freezer, along with my fridge/freezer is all I
need to maintain at least a six month's supply of food, probably more. We
are NEVER hungry. Though I know it's possible, I don't like keeping food
in any storage capacity indefinitely.

Help repack your freezers? I don't think so. You got yourselves into this
mess. You need to get yourselves out of it.

So much for not feeding the trolls.

spamlister/pits is the original troll stalker who went back to ozdebte and
goaded everyone to come over here and disrupt the group.

Way to go, Wayne.

Default have too many blueberries any unique recipes or ideas

There are 8 foods we are supposed to eat every day, and blueberries are
one of them. I heard this on the radio, then I read it on the
intergoogle, so I know it's true.

http://health.msn.com/nutrition/slid...4&imageindex=1

The foods are spinach, yogurt, tomatoes, carrots, blueberries, black
beans, walnuts, oats.

Dry them- they'll take up less space or soak in vodka or brandy for a
nice apertif or make blueberry jam or blueberry vinegar...

I have to wonder why someone needs 6 freezers, even if 5 of them were bought
at bargain basement prices!

After paying for them, then keeping them running, it's certainly
not saving on food costs.

Too many blueberries is not exactly a curse.

I saw this on TV: maple-blueberry syrup for use with pancakes, ice cream
etc:

Reduce some blueberries to make a little syrup.
Strain and mix that reduction with some maple syrup.
Add some whole blueberries to the syrup mix.

Sorry I didn't get the proportions but it seems this would be hard to
screw up in any event.

If you have so very many blueberries, you can consider sharing them: at
this time of year, certain birds would enjoy having access to some in
your yard.

Best regards . . .

Ya know what, Peter? Killfile me. Killfile me now. I KF the
accounts that are making trouble here, because I don't want to prolong
the agony when they do.

But it's unreasonable to order (or even ask) people not to respond to
normal, food-related posts. just because you have issues with the
poster.

I wanted to believe that people were wrong about you.

Please remove me from your address book. I have already returned the
favor.

It's unreasonable for Wayne to ask/*plea* that everyone ignore
*anything* that has me in the subject/body because it perpetuates the
trolls/stalkers..... but then he turns around and talks to the very same
people that he *knows* are the trolls/stalker, having had then pointed
out to him on numerous occasions.

I *thought* I just read a post from you, claiming you don't respond to
'trolls'... and here you are, attempting a rather feeble troll yourself.

Blueberry liqueur... mmm, you've given me a very interesting idea.

Plenty of blueberries grown locally here. My Blueberries won't be
producing much for a year or two, for now I buy the local product and eat
'em virtually every day. Can't get enough blueberries...

All very good items there, for sure.

Yoghurt, blueberries, nuts and leafy greens of various types are a staple
here.

If you're sufficiently interested, Goji berries (AKA Wolf berries) are
also beneficial in much the same way as blueberries are.

I can't imagine having a problem using blueberries. I would freeze
them, unwashed, and bag em by the cup. I'd be living on blueberry
pancakes and muffins.

Given that the power comes from the sun & the wind that feeds into
where the freezers are I suggest not only a saving on food but power
costs . Additionally the fact that at clearing sales each freezer
less than $100 in one case just a dollar I. Perhaps I am in a better
position than you to judge what my real costs are .

Tried that but left left out the canola oil and added instead 1/2 of
the suggested amount replaced with olive oil ,left out the salt (added
just a pinch)
used half the butter suggested but added a tad bit more skimmed milk
powder and lemon juice .

Tastes ok so thanks but was a time consuming effort .Better half is
now scoffing thawed blueberries and yoghurt that we threw into the
blender .
when have more time will try your exact recipe thanks for the help .

but REAL ones

On the West Tamar side head towards Beaconsfield just out of Exeter
on the Left there is a blueberry farm one of the First In Tasmania
Also at Markets just near Perth ( Tasmania ) -go past Launy
airport Sunday Markets Some great stuff In Winter do the morning
Market thing then go have a ski at Ben Lomond You could do it all in
a day then be home about 6 where you are .You live in Foodies
heaven .

Real Answer is we live 450 km away from Cheap food prices , So the
vehicle or aircraft gets loaded up when down in the Capitol city.
Also when killing a beast you do need some where to store a cut
up cow , sheep ,pig, fish etc .
Given that the outside air temp has not come below 36 C in last 4
days and water is precious the gardens cop a hiding on the edge of
a desert .

Not all of us on here live within easy access or distance to decent
food halls . Also by the time "fresh produce" (Laughs) arrives it is
already two days old having to come from 1500Km North (such as
mango's melons , globe grapes and fresh /live lobster prawns crabs
etc)

Nearly every one out here has at least TWO big freezers most more
One family out on a station (ranch in USA) that is well over a
million & half acres and employs between 8 and 30 people
(seasonal ) have cool rooms and over twenty freezers (not
always going as their power comes in part from diesel gen sets )

Hope that answers your question (which was logical if perceived one
is in a city )

I tried frozen blueberries but they were chewy and weird. It's like the skin
got tough in the freezer. What kind do you buy?

That is just not right. Most of the blueberries I eat here are frozen,
and I've experienced them being chewy, nor is the skin tough - far from
it. I've been eating them almost dailt for more years than I know, and
never noted those particular attributes.

But why do you need sugar when you also have fruit?

Indeed it does... it is my usual dessert. I thought I'd tire of it
eventually - but nope, no sign of that happening at all

I want to say "Land-O-Lakes" but that doesn't sound right... I
transferred the berries into ziplock freezers bags after I fracked up
the closure on the original bag trying to get it open. I'll check the
next time I go to the store.

The skins are a little tough if you eat them thawed. But I never
thought of that as a downside, especially since I'm crunching them up
still frosty, mixed into the yogurt.

Maybe that's just me (well, and my family). I like weird textures.
Like bubble tea. Every so often I get a craving for bubble tea. Or
blackberries. Or even caviar. But notnotnot very ripe bananas <shudder>.

I think I know where you mean Phil, either that or there is more than one
place doing the same thing. Blueberries are the most common berry it
seems, followed by Boysonberries and Blackberries - the latter two I
don't mind in small doses. There is also a large blueberry farm at St
Marys, which is not too far away.

What I havent found as yet, is cheap and fresh raspberries. They're here
all right, but generally a bit on the expensive side.
(Again, I'll have to be patient and wait for my own raspberries to mature)

Yup
I do sometimes go to the markets up around Evandale, Perth, etc.

> You live in Foodies heaven .

I certainly do Phil. Initially I had no idea how true that statement was
until I actually moved here permanantly

I could literally not go shopping at all and eat fantastic fresh locally
grown and wild food all year round, if I really needed to. Meat is not an
issue here, that's for sure. I have plenty of field mushrooms growing on
their own on my property, although I'd really love to grow my own Swiss
Browns... I love them so much.

I've also found a lot of veggies growing 'wild' as well (potatos, leeks,
onions mainly) on abandoned farms etc that are now swallowed up by
forestry.

No shortage of Trout in the streams here as well. I even have them in my
own creek, but are a bit on the small side.

Milk and eggs I get from some locals, so I'm not going to worry about
producing those two items here, but do intend raising my own meat chooks
& ducks... oh God... I'm drooling about roast duck now...

Funniest damned post I've today. We now have an "original troll stalker"
that apparently "goaded everyone" to come over here and disrupt the group.
Lucas, in his delusional musings, has found someone other than himself to
blame. Naturally that someone happens to be a *** man. Fortunately for
Lucas, his scapegoat is also a groupie. I wonder if the other groupies
will turn on Whiney as well?
