Well *shit*!! If you're worried about the numbnuts on here who want
professional photos, don't sweat it.

That one looks damn fine for photography.

Now, as for food content..... the outside looks *very* nice.

Where's the inside shot??!! :-)

I know it was f-ugly - but aren't a lot of great tasting foods?
FWIW, I love shrimp with a passion, but IMHO, they must also be about
9/10 on the ugly scale before being cleaned/de-shelled. Oh, and squid
too... ;-)

I agree completely - but I would add a few others off the top of my head
i.e. modom, Serene (wonder where she is, BTW), saerah, nexis (a.k.a.
kimberly) Steve Wertz, the 'real' PeterL and of course, Omelet too.
Blinky is a professional photographer (and his pics are always
outstanding) so I won't mention his name ;-)

There are quite a few others as well, but I can't think of all of them
right now. Oh, Sheldon is darn good too (how the heck could I forget
him? - sorry Shel.)

Looking forward to it. Hey, if I can give it a shot (pun intended),
anybody can...

Soups and stews seldom photograph well. ;-)

Uh uh! That final shot of the squid over noodles on the r.f.c. website
looks appetizing? :-) 'course a whole squid might be unattractive to
some, but I guess I never thought about it.

As for shrimp:

http://i18.tinypic.com/6sarggl.jpg
(Beef slices, asparagus and shrimp stir fry served over fresh baby
spinach)

http://i41.tinypic.com/2d7arkz.jpg
(Shrimp with yam fries, corn on the cob, dumplings with dipping sauces)

Seems to photograph ok. <shrugs>
But, beauty is in the eye of the beerholder. <g>

Watch a video tho' sometime of live shrimp swimming. They are as
graceful as jellyfish imho...

I was talking about when they're dead and looking all f-ugly at the
fishmongers still wearing their shells/legs/eyes before being stripped

Ah, ok!

I guess I just never let original appearance bother me...
They are how the goddess made them? <g>

But, I was raised early on to prepare meat from the live state. An early
memory I have is dad teaching me to kill and skin domestic bunnies and
giving me anatomy lessons. He showed me what a healthy rabbit liver
looked like and told me if the liver looked ugly (spotted or whatever)
to discard the rabbit. Eating diseased meat is bad.

He also showed me what to look for in wild rabbits when he occasionally
shot one that had tularemia. You don't want to eat those.

Prepping any meat from the raw state is just a way of life. :-)
I've even dressed out deer and squirrel, as well as rabbits, ducks and
turkeys. And emu and rattlesnake.

And fish, shrimp and squids of course...

That's a great shot Cathy. If the photos you've taken are half as good
as this one you shouldn't worry about posting them at all.

If you want some good feedback post some to abf and ask for input,
they are a helpful bunch of nice people.

Many people do. A burger so bad I could only eat half and still got
sick isn't my idea of something I like. I'd rather have a cheap
bologna sandwich on wonder bread than fast food. At least I know I
won't get sick. Maybe that's why I'm 6'3" and weigh only 195 and am
healthy. I don't know many people who eat a lot of FF that can say
the same. At least not middle aged people.

That okra pic is splendid, it's going to be on my rotating screensaver...

A friend of mine originally from Iowa loves okra and she used to grow it
back there. I may just print it out and put it in a li'l frame as a gift
for her. I hope you don't mind, she'll be amazed that a shark can be so
dexterous as to take an okra pic.

Thank you.

I wish to keep it a hobby. I hobbied seriously with still photography in
the 1970s, before my career path took me into shooting television shows.
Making images all day for a living, I fell out of making them on my own
time when I got home. I'm getting back into photography now, and enjoying
it because it's just a hobby; even though I take it seriously, it's still
ultimately just for me.

Tell you what -- I'll reshoot it for her and make sure there's no damned
ice on the okra. Seriously. I meant to hair-dryer that bowl and forgot.
I can't believe I missed the ice that modom mentioned in here.

Or if you'd prefer "spontaneous", you're welcome to the original version.
Let me know. Even if you go with that original version, I can provide you
with a better (larger, more resolution, less compression) copy of the
image if you want it; the one you have is resized for the net.

Blinky, that ice can be removed using photoshop.
