Some leftover things invite being transformed into something new--grilled chicken, for example. But for me, there are other things which beg just to be reheated and repeated in their original form. Lamb shanks (I'm assuming braised, here) are in this category for me. I'd change the side dishes maybe. -aem |

I always braise lamb shanks, and if there are leftovers they just get heated up in the sauce they were braised in. You can use them for Scotch Broth, and I usually add some curry powder to that. I suppose that it is no longer Scotch Broth, but it sure is tasty. |

It's an odd thing about lamb shanks around here. Lamb used to be hard to come by and we used to have to go to one particular Scottish butcher shop to buy it, and it was very expensive. Then the local grocery stores stores started carrying it all the time. Sometimes there are no lamb shanks at all. Sometimes there are shanks, but they are expensive. Once in a while I come across them at a very attractive price and whenever I find them I stock up on them. |
