Thank you to everyone who recommended free servers. I still don't
know what went wrong when I was using Charter and Ultrafeed, but everthing's good now. A special thank you to the kind person who gave me a subscription to individual.net. I like their service so much! Carol -- Change "invalid" to JamesBond's agent number to reply. |

I was able to subscribe to about any group I normally use except for the majority of binary groups. A.B.F was an exception. You can subscribe to it, but you will not see any binaries, just text posts (mostly the replies). Bob |

But I also re-subscribed to a.b.f. and there must have indeed been a 'blip'. Saw several (smallish) images that had 'snuck through'. However the majority of the threads had no posts with attachments in them. My theory is that if a post is under a certain size/number of lines it may be allowed by motz. But that's just my theory. Anyway, I'd rather just pay my few bucks every few years and see all the binaries I want. Motz is great for text groups tho' - and it's free. -- Cheers Chatty Cathy |

I was just describing my experience as I registered for the free service on Motz yesterday, so you really have nothing to disagree with :-) You can have as many "blips" as you want to and I shan't complain. I paid a miniscule amount for a block, a one time charge, and it normally works flawlessly, binaries and all. I'm not complaining. I probably should have switched servers but I'm reluctant to screw around with settings. nancy |

(e.g. there's one from Big Jim in the "Chess anuone?" thread (his typo, not mine <veg>), and a few other posts as well.) FWIW, I haven't found a free news feed (yet) that carries all the binaries; don't blame them - takes up a lot of bandwidth and/or server space, which has to be paid for... -- Cheers Chatty Cathy |
