I just saw his latest installment of "No Reservations" on the Travel
Channel. A trip to Mexico with the head chef at Les Halles, who
immigrated from Puebla a few years back.

Street food in Mexico City -- tacos al pastor among the comestibles.

A trip to an island in Xochimilco whose last inhabitant was a madman
(in my estimation) tormented by fears of a ghost that drove him to
hang scores, maybe hundreds, of dolls around his house. Deeply
creepy.

A bullfight, juduciously edited. Bull tacos outside the arena.

Mole poblano with the chef's family in Puebla.

I enjoyed it, and really want some of that mole the guy's mother made.
Want it bad.

Good Show -Xochimilco is a great tourist and locals place - The show was an
injustice to the gorgeous floating gardens.

Had it. But Chef Carlos's mom made it from scratch. That's what I
want: a mom's handmade yummy multi-chile sweet/hot/bitter mole.

The travelogue portions are o.k., but Bourdain is a self-satisfied
officious you-know-what in love with his own voice, deservedly so or
not. I watch only if there's nothing else on.

By the way, what's your take on the pronunciation of Xochimilco? People
I regard as knowledgeable say that the "X" is pronounced as a Spanish
"J", essentially an "H". I have a niece by marriage who used to live in
Xoxo and she pronounces it like Santa's "Ho Ho".

I had to learn a little Nahuatl during a Meso-America cultural
anthropology class. I would pronounce it:

"Show Chee Mill Co" (long o on the last syllable, emphasis on second to
last syllable)

show chee MILL co.
